Assiniboia Chamber AGM & Awards Dinner. May 19, 2016

Join guest host Ace Burpee  and his unique MC stylings as we celebrate the chambers Annual General Meeting and Awards Dinner. This is the highlight of our chamber year as we complete our business series and take the opportunity to recognize some outstanding individuals in our community and enjoy a wonderful evening out. Annual awards in the categories Lifetime Achievement, Long-Time Active Member and Spirit of Achievement will be presented. Our fundraising charity of choice is the Deer Lodge Centre Foundation with raffle sponsors including Winnipeg Goldeyes and Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

MB Chamber of Commerce AGM - Focus on New Roads Ahead.
Assiniboia Chamber of Commerce named hosts of 2017 MB Chamber of Commerce AGM.
A very successful and invigorating 85th AGM of the MB Chamber of Commerce was held May 6 - 8 in Portage La Prairie. Guest speakers including Hendrik Brakel, Senior Director Economic, Financial & Tax Policy of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce provided extensive insight into what lays ahead for our domestic economy.  Brakel provided praise for the diverse economy of Manitoba and noted our continuing strength among the provinces. Todd Letts of the Brampton Board of Trade gave a fast paced Best Practices session for Chambers of Commerce and there was much more.

The attendees were very pleased to hear the positive message from the Hon. Cliff Cullen, Minister Growth, Economy and Trade on the proactive approach the newly elected government will be taking.

At the Sunday morning Policy Resolutions meeting, Warren Thompson, Chair of the Assiniboia Chamber of Commerce announced that the Assiniboia Chamber has been selected to host the 2017 AGM, May 5-7. Opening night reception at the Journey to Churchill exhibit. Mark your calendars

The courses are opening and it's getting close to that time of year for the  Assiniboia Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Tournament. Mark your calendars for Friday June 17 at the Assiniboine Golf club. As in past years this is destined to be the premiere golf event organized by your chamber.  New format this year to allow you time to get away for your weekend. Registrations are now open - organize your foursome or register individually, a great time will be had by all.  GOLF REGISTRATION

Annual Assiniboia Chamber Award Winners Announced.
We are pleased to announce the 2016 Assiniboia Chamber of Commerce Award winners. Raunora Westcott of National Leasing and chair of the Marketing & Events Committee advises:
 
G eorge Steciuk of GNG Nutritionals is awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award.
 
Jim Forestell of the Charleswood Rotary Club is the recipient of the Long Time Active Member Award.
 
Belinda Bigold of the High Tea Bakery will receive the Spirit of Achievement Award. 
 
The annual awards will be presented at the AGM & Awards Dinner on May 19. We encourage chamber members and friends to attend this event and honor these well deserving recipients.

Jas Brar, the founder of 4Tracks Ltd., has stayed true to his efforts and commitment to succeed in the transportation industry. "Trucking is not an easy business but it's great work if you have an interest and the focus to make a living in this business. It gets you going," he says. "Trucking requires a lot of labour and capital where practical situations matter. Since I have been in this business for so long I cannot think of doing something else."
He has shown great focus on customer service and ensuring quality services, has tremendous respect for his employees, suppliers and customers, and led 4Tracks extremely successfully for the past decade.
