PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

ONE VOTE MAKES A DIFFERENCE

"Hillary Clinton might have won Kentucky (barely) but Bernie Sanders was the runaway winner in Oregon. In fact, Clinton only managed to win in Oregon's Gilliam county - with just one vote."

The "one vote" importance is the same in both parties.  Our aggregated votes make up a large number and it is easy to think one vote does not matter - but if every person thought that way and did not bother to vote, there would not be a large aggregated vote.  And, as we have come to learn in the election of 2016, many decisions on delegate awarding is dependent upon who won which district.  Delegate votes are critical to an election.  At the Distri ct level, one or two votes can determine the winner.

State elections have been won by less than a 5% margin.

In California, the primary election is critical.  With the exception of the office of the President, only the top two candidates who receive the highest number of votes advance to the General Election.  The top two could be two Republicans, two Democrats, or one of each. We must ensure there is a Republican candidate in every category.

In 2016, every vote is important, every vote is critical. Republicans must win  the White House and keep majority status in both the Congress and the Senate.

MVGOP VOTER GUIDE

Each election cycle the Mt. View Republican Club distributes its voter opinion sheet.  It is not an official guide, rather it is based on the research done on the candidates, the recommendations from the California Republican Party, and the voting record of incumbents.  This guide is to encourage our members to do their own research, to draw their own conclusion and to encourage dialogue between members and others in the community.

President of the United States

Donald Trump, presumptive nominee

Note: Senator Ted Cruz will appear on the ballot, and although he has suspended his campaign and is no longer a candidate for President, votes for Ted Cruz will result in delegate votes.  If Ted Cruz wins a district, Cruz delegates in that District will go to the convention.  These delegates will have a voice in the formation of the 2016 Republican Platform.  The same is true for Trump.  If Trump wins the District,  his delegates will go to the Convention representing Trump.  In the interest of clarity, it is important that our members know why both Ted Cruz  and Donald Trump will appear on the ballot and why there is validity in voting for either candidate.

State Proposition 50: SUSPENSION OF LEGISLATORS
NO!
SUSPENSION OF LEGISLATORS, CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT Gives California a false sense of security. Prop 50 has no mechanism to actually expel legislators that have broken the law. The bill only allows the legislature to suspend a legislator WITH or WITHOUT pay. Protects the political ruling class, not the constituents.

This is one of those propositions that at first glance appear to be needed, but upon further scrutiny, it offers no protection for the people, nor consequences for legislators who violate their oath, or the law.

I hope this message has clarified some aspects of the election procedure.  Again, I want to  encourage you to do your own research and come to your own conclusions.

Judi Neal, President

FROM MY PERSPECTIVE

                    By Carolyn Gonzales

"Robust and zesty dialogue is essential in an election; cynicism, however creates deep fissures in the relationship of friends.  In the end, if we are not careful, we lose, even if our candidate of choice wins."                                                   Carolyn Gonzales

There is something very important about politics, a significant question that must be asked, and honestly answered:  "Are we prepared to enter into dialogues about politics?"

While that may seem quite trivial, it is quite the opposite.  There is a reason why the adage of 'don't discuss politics or religion among friends".  Politics and religion are a part of who we are at our core.  We are happiest when surrounded by people who share our views, but not so when in the midst of people of other viewpoints.

So, how, do we engage in politics and religious dialogues with friends and family who have differences of opinion?  We do so with respect.  There are no politicians who are all 100% bad, evil, selfish, etc.  We find the things we can agree upon, and then respectfully, but convincingly, discuss those things we do not agree upon.  But we do so, knowing there is something far more important than politics: it is the friendship and the personal relationships.

For those who share a common belief that politics is not personal, it is about the issues not the person, and that we can disagree without hate, or accusation, then, that conversation beckons those who enjoy the banter and testing of ideas, presentation, and persuasion.  This is the best scenario in which to engage in lively dialogue.  The ego is fulfilled by who can outplay the other.  There is no superiority...the subject while important, is not taken personally, it is quite enjoyable.

Then there are the conversations in which one person, or persons, attempt to change another persons mind by making the other person feel uninformed, and ignorant.  They fail to present information to inform or educate, they brow beat the person.  This is by far the worst type of dialogue to enter into.  It causes resentment, and anger, and soon politics takes on a more personal nuance, fissures begin and the relationship is in jeopardy.

In between these two scenarios are many sub-scenarios, but the common thread is this:  politics is not the person, it is the topic.

The easiest way to engage in Scenario #1 is to know upon what criteria you are drawing your conclusion.  There must be something that is factual, something that  gives merit to the conclusion.  Feeling is not factual.   Your "gut feeling" could full well  be exactly the opposite of the other persons "gut feeling", feelings are much harder to defend.

So, as we draw to a close in this 2016 primary election, I hope we have all learned more than we knew last year.  We have learned about the different ways States conduct their selection process; we have learned that DELEGATES are the blood of the election, even, at times overriding the popular vote.  We have leaned that there are a lot of different positions that people take, that there are people who put Party before Country and others who put Country before Party.  We have learned that the people are yearning for strong leadership or unconventional leadership, and we have learned that America is tired of subliminally being silenced by "political correctness".

In the end, we have learned more about ourselves, and therein lies the value of participation, and engagement.

May this primary election season have been one in which despite the differences, friendships have remained intact, respect still given and hope continues to flourish.

SOCIALISM IS WELL PLANNED

Member Darleen Rota sent this to Carolyn Gonzales

T his is based on Alinsky's eight steps from Democracy to a socialist society.

Obama quotes him often in his book and Hillary did her thesis on Alinsky.

ALMOST DONE                            JUST ONE ELECTION DECIDES OUR FATE!

There are 8 levels of control that must be obtained before you are able to create a socialist/communist State.  The first is the most important.  Five of the eight are already done.

1.  Healthcare:  "Control Healthcare and you control the People"       DONE !!

2  Poverty:  Increase the Poverty level as high as possible."  Poor People are easier to control and will not fight back if the government is providing everything for them to live.      DONE!!!

3.  Debt: Increase the National Debt to an unsustainable level."  That way you are able to increase Taxes, and this will produce more Poverty.
DONE!!!

4.  Gun Control:  Remove the ability to defend themselves from the Government.  That way you are able to create a Police State - total local control.
ALMOST THERE!!!

5.  Welfare:  Take control of every aspect of their lives (Food, Livestock, Housing, and Income).    DONE!!!

6.  Education:  Take control of what People read & listen to; take control of what Children learn in School.     ALMOST THERE!!!

7.  Religion:  Remove faith in God from the Government and Schools. ALMOST THERE!!!

8.  Class Warfare:  Divide the People into the Wealthy against the Poor.  Racially divide. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to Tax the Wealthy with full support of the voting Poor.   DONE!!!

The bases are all covered!  We have been slowly and methodically conditioned.

JUST ONE ELECTION DECIDES OUR FATE!  2016 IS THAT ELECTION.

UNITED STATES
SENATE CANDIDATE

THOMAS DEL BECCARO

In 2016, the race for the next United States Senator representing California is wide open.  While the Democrats want to keep this prestigious and important office,  the Republicans have an opportunity win that seat.

Tom Del Beccaro
could very well
be the next
Senator from California.

Tom is the former Chairman of the California Rep.ublican Party and previously served as Chairman of the Republican Party in his home county of Contra Costa.

Tom's views on California's economy is conservative.  In addition to the usual talking points and issues, he has identified three costly programs that should be changed or eliminated.

· A flat tax for the Nation and California

· The repeal of California's high speed      rail bond, and

· A comprehensive program to make  California a world leader in water technology, infrastructure and
distri
bution.

Tom states the obvious about California:
"As for high-speed rail, the majority of Californians no longer support it and neither does the U.S. Congress.

We have a WATER CRISIS in California, not a train crisis. Plain and simple. We should cut our losses and repeal the high-speed rail bond."

Tom is a captivating speaker, he brings knowledge about the political system and the issues that are affecting all Californians.

This is an opportunity to meet him, listen to him, ask him questions, and learn his views on illegal immigration, refugees, liberal laws, and the future of the United States.
You don't want to miss this meeting.

Tom currently serves as an attorney for the small business community, and has been a small business owner for over 20 years.  He received his law degree from Santa Clara University, and his Bachelor's Degree from UC Berkeley.   He is also a noted author and media commentator.

Please invite your friends and family.   Give them a chance to meet this candidate and ask their questions.

Opening Early June!

CONGRATULATIONS

The Mt. View Republican Club is actively represented in the midst of the 2016 election!

Two of its members have been selected as Delegates to the 2016 National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio.

Judi Neal has been chosen as a Cruz delegate for the 32nd Congressional District.

Donna Lowe has been chosen as a Trump delegate in the 27th Congressional District.

Here is how it will all work out:

If Ted Cruz wins the primary in the 32nd Congressional District, which includes San Dimas, Judi Neal is on her way  to Cleveland!

If Trump wins the primary in the 27th District, Donna Lowe is on her way to Cleveland.

In Cleveland the delegates would particpate in drafting and voting on the Party's platform.

Both ladies are strong Republicans, and while each is supporting a different candidate in the Primary, they strongly share the principles of conservative government, and will unite behind the Republican nominee in the General Election.

It would wonderful if both members of the Mt. View Republican Club would  go to Cleveland.

So, if you would like to send Judi Neal to Clevelad, those in the 32nd District, vote for Cruz.

If you would like to see Donna Lowe go to Cleveland, those in the 27th District, vote for Trump.

Of course, this rationale has some selfish overtones in that the Club would love to see both ladies carry it's message and name to the Republican National  Convention.

The Club is very proud of each of them, and wish them well in this wonderful opportunity to be among those who will be on hand to nominate the next President of the United States.

Please join with us in congratulating Judi and Donna and wish them the best in their political  accomplishment.

Good luck, ladies!!

By The Way:  An easy way to determine which Congressional District you are in is to look at your ballot, under United States Representative.

In the box on the left it will say: 27th District Vote for one, or 32nd District, Vote for one.

The 27th District will have Jack Orswell listed, and the 32nd will have Gordon Fisher listed.
