See to Read: Free Vision Screenings for Young Children

June 4th, 11 am - 12 pm
Downtown Eugene Public Library

Eugene Public Library will host "See to Read" vision screenings for children ages three to seven years old. The screenings non-invasive and take only a few minutes. Just drop in!

All Oregon children age seven or younger are required to have their vision screened before starting school or preschool. The purpose is to check for a number of eye diseases that can be treated successfully if caught early. If the free, initial screening raises concerns, a full eye examination will be recommended.

The most commonly found diseases are refractive errors, such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism; and amblyopia, also known as "lazy eye." Early detection provides the best opportunity for effective, inexpensive treatment, which translates to the best chance for successful learning as school begins.

This service is provided through a partnership among the Oregon State Elks Association, Oregon State Lions Association, and Oregon public libraries. For more information about See to Read vision screenings, visit  www.seetoread.net or contact Eugene Public Library at  541-682-8316.

With April coming to a close it is time to start planning for summer! As a part of your busy summer schedule, we invite you to join MRG Foundation for our  2016 Social Justice Summer Party.

Social Justice Summer Party is MRG Foundation's signature Eugene event, bringing together a diverse community of donors, supporters, and grantees in the Eugene area. It is a great opportunity to build community, celebrate the great social justice work being done in Eugene, and help us to raise funds to grow MRG Foundation and the social justice movement in Oregon.

This year's event is special as we will be celebrating our 40th  anniversary! MRG Foundation was founded on the banks of the McKenzie River in 1976, thanks to the vision and commitment of Eugene activists and leaders. We will honor these roots by hearing from community leaders who have been present throughout MRG's history and share an afternoon of food, prizes, entertainment, and fun!
