Margaret Fuller Marker to be Installed in Beacon Saturday; Terri Pahucki to Speak at Ceremony
Terri Pahucki invites you to join her this Saturday, May 21st at 11 am in Beacon to cele- brate Margaret Fuller, an important figure in our Unitarian Universalist history. She will speak about Fuller's connections to our congregation's early history during the dedication ceremony to install the Margaret Fuller Marker at the Beacon Visitor's Center (South Avenue/Main Street intersection). This marker commemorates the historic visit of women's rights activist and Transcendentalist, Margaret Fuller, to then Fishkill Landing in Fall, 1844.  Fuller resided there for seven weeks while writing America's first Feminist work, Woman in the Nineteenth Century. The book publication profoundly impacted the women's rights movement, inspiring the 1848 Women's Rights Convention in Seneca Falls, New York. Read here for more information about the ceremony, which includes keynote speaker, Michael Barnett, and the premier of a musical piece based on one of Fuller's poems.
