FAWCO and The FAWCO Foundation are very pleased to announce the first-ever joint Symposium: STAND UP Against Human Trafficking. The Symposium will take place in Nieuwspoort, The Hague, in the Netherlands on October 7-8, 2016. By raising awareness and standing up against human trafficking, people can become "everyday heroes" in the fight to end this practice.

Speakers will focus on tools for sustainable change for sex and labor trafficking survivors. The Symposium will include multimedia presentations, personal accounts of rescue and recovery, strategy and tools used by anti-trafficking organizations, a networking forum, and interactive audience discussions. The Symposium will facilitate a candid exchange of views and information, insights, solutions and practical toolkits for participants.

           2017 FRIENDSHIP QUILT

"FOUR WALLS WITH TOMORROW INSIDE"

At the Interim Meeting in Frankfurt (March 11-13, 2016), Education - Empowering Women and Girls through Knowledge and Skills, was announced as the overarching theme for the FAWCO Target Program 2016-2019. In celebration of this theme, the 2017 Friendship Quilt will embrace the world and all of its schoolhouses. Some of them are no more than a shady spot under a tree but they all contain tomorrow!

Now that most of our individual clubs are winding down and summer is approaching, it's a perfect time to sit back, relax, and get started on your quilt square!

You will find very explicit instructions by clicking the link below. The deadline for submitting a quilt square is October 10, 2016 - no exceptions! So get started and be part of something very special.

If you have further questions, please feel free to contact Roberta Zollner at rl.zollner@gmx.net

In addition to the Symposium, FAWCO and The FAWCO Foundation are very pleased to present The FAWCO Experience - a two-day event that will take place on October 6-7 in Amsterdam and The Hague (participants will be bused from one location to the other). The Experience serves as a precursor to the Symposium. This special program is open to FAWCO members only and will be limited to 50 participants.

Experience the reality that legalized prostitution in the Netherlands is modern slavery; this is a real behind-the-scenes look at the world of prostitution. Walk in the footsteps of rescued women at a women's shelter for trafficking victims in Amsterdam and understand what it feels like to be a refugee in a foreign land, alone and without help or guidance.

This experience will most likely be a very emotional one for participants and may evoke strong personal feelings.

If you would like to participate in The FAWCO Experience, click below for more information and to register.
