Social Justice Sunday,  May 22
We will have two distinct worship services this Sunday and
multi-generational service activities after each service.

9:15 a.m. 9th Grade Trip Service
Join us for a service led by youth and their mentors who recently returned from the annual 9th Grade Trip of the UU Churches of the Front Range, which is a journey of service learning and reflection. The youth will weave together readings, music, and a traditional Hopi wisdom story to create this worship service.

The logo of the program, done by alum Clair Bennett, shows the flaming chalice depicted in Hopi prayer feathers, clouds and rain, with the flame being the symbol of friendship. The two Navajo design circles are the Circle of the Earth on the left, and the Circle of the Sky on the right. The Navajo designs encircle the Hopi, as is true geographically.

Rev. Jeannie Shero and Aaron Norris, Ministerial Intern
Homeless persons recently experienced a major set back when Denver officials performed "sweeps" of Denver streets resulting in the loss of critical possessions for our community's most vulnerable people. This year's all church social justice project on May 22nd will give our members the opportunity to learn more about this issue and to contribute needed items to benefit those affected by homelessness. Come for a service exploring homelessness through the lens of our monthly theme, "acceptance," and stay for multi-generational activities after the service.  Lunch will be available to purchase from Cafe 180 .
Music:  In the second service, The Cantabile Chorale (our chamber choir) will share Nick Page's setting of Psalm 23  in  Hebrew, K'Ayol Ta'arog,  as well as Brian Tate's arrangement of the spiritual  Home in d' Rock

Compassion in Action: Words Beyond Bars

News from the Board of Trustees
Congratulations to Rev. Jeannie Shero! Rev. Shero was called by unanimous approval to be our Senior Minister at our Special Congregational Meeting Sunday, May 15th. We are thrilled about this outcome and looking forward to continuing out work together.

Congratulations are also in order for our intern Aaron Norris, who has been hired as a part-time Ministerial Resident effective June 1st. We are a two minister church. Though we plan to hire a full-time Associate Minister, that will not happen in the coming fiscal year. The immediate addition of a part-time assistant to our ministerial team will help us through our coming year of transition.

At the regular Spring Congregational Meeting on Sunday, the congregation voted to approve the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2016-2017 and, in a separate motion, voted to approve use of endowment funds. We also voted in a slate of new candidates for elected committees. Complete minutes from the meeting will be submitted for approval at our Winter Congregational Meeting in 2017.

Contact us  with any questions or concerns or visit our  website  to learn more about the Board of Trustees.
