I just deleted someone from my database...

You never know when it's your time.

I received a call the other day that threw me for a loop. A reader I have known over the years suddenly passed away. He was younger than me, fit, friendly and outgoing. At the top of his game.

His sister called to inform me as she had been going over his emails and came across my most recent weekly email. Not really knowing our relationship, she thought I should know he passed. I wished her family my condolences and said he was a good man.

I didn't know GS well, only to exchange the odd email and have an occasional call. We supported each other with an electronic pat on the back and a 'we'll do something together some day' promise.

He was a good man, hard working, honest, good at his job, and absolutely someone I would have recommended.  I wish I had known him better. As for doing something together, that ship has now sailed.

I deleted his name from my database as I wouldn't want to cause unnecessary grief, in the future, to his family with an unexpected email. Too little too late.

As busy as we are, you never know when it's your time. Something to think about.

Cheers, Eric
