- Izabel Mar will open the evening with her cutting of THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (Abridged), featuring Diego Roberts Buceta, Zoe Adamson, and Cora Tipping.
- Camaira Metz follows with her production of David Ives' short comedy SURE THING starring Scotty McKinney and Sophia Rice.
- Alex Howell's treatment of SCRIBE'S PARADOX or THE MECHANICAL RABBIT is next with a cast of nine led by Helen Maclay.
- Aisha Carpenter will close and puts Christopher Durang's absurdist comedy, DIVERSIONS, on stage with ten students portraying some of the wackiest characters to grace the BHS stage.

BHS Library with the General Meeting starting right after at 7:00 pm.

The Ballard Marching Band
is performing in the
Syttende Mai Parade
in Ballard on Tuesday Night, May 17th at 6:00 pm. It is required for all students.
Marching Band Practices:
- Friday, May 13th AND
Monday, May 16th from 2:30 - 3:15 pm
Call time for Tuesday, May 17th is 4:00 pm in the Band Room.
The parade starts at 6:00pm.
The band should be through the parade route by 6:45pm and the
students are to return immediately to school afterward to turn in their Marching Band Uniforms.
I
f students would like to go back to watch the rest of the parade, they may do so
after
they have turned in their uniforms. Some students arrange rides pick them up after the parade so that they can get back to school to turn their uniforms in quicker.

We still need water donations (2 -24 packs) dropped off at the Band Room. Thank you.

Carnegie Hall Trip Meeting after the BPA General Meeting at 7:00 TONIGHT - Tuesday, May 10th in the BHS Library for Wind Ensemble
and Percussion Families
. Important information will be discussed concerning the dates, costs and other details of this trip.
The Wind Ensemble was accepted into the
"New York International Music Festival"
to be held on April 8-12, 2017. Ballard is one of six high school groups selected from around the world. These groups will be joined by two showcase university groups.
A
Deposit of $500 is due Friday, June 10th for this trip.
We estimate this tour will cost close to $2000. We will work hard to minimize costs but we are
encouraged all students to participate in the many Performing Arts fundraisers as a portion of the proceeds will be placed in their student accounts.

Annual Incoming Freshmen Music Meeting
Wednesday, June 15th at 7:00 PM
We will be having a brief, informational meeting i
n the Instrumental Music Room at Ballard High School
(across from the gym) for all incoming freshmen that will be involved in the music program. We realize it is a busy time of year, but if you are able to attend, please come! It is a time to meet the teachers, learn a bit about the program, hear from current students, and meet other 8th graders. We will also be talking about next year's calendar of events and answering many questions that people often have as they enter music in high school.
Graduation Performance on Monday, June 20th for the following:
Concert Choir, Adv Women's Chorale, Symphonic Band,
Wind Ensemble,
and selected Percussionists
Students will need to provide their own transportation to and from
Memorial Stadium and
should arrive
no later than 6:30pm at the Stadium and be in full Concert Attire.
Students can bring a black jacket to wear while they are not performing. The ceremony begins at 8pm and is estimated to be done around 9:30pm.
After graduation, all students will turn in their Concert Attire at the Stadium so they need to bring an extra change of clothes and shoes.

A Celebration of Art, Poetry, Literature & Music
Congratulations to all the BHS Students who
participated in the Spilled Ink Night at the Ballard Branch Library.
It was an evening filled with great literature, artwork and music, and was a wonderful
Community building event with a great turnout from the school and surrounding neighborhoods.

TeenTix is looking for teens 16 or older that are able to get to the Seattle Center and can be available 10-15 hours per week during regular business hour. They are looking for smart, motivated, responsible and enthusiastic teens who are passionate about making art and music accessible for young people.

The award winning
All-City Band
is officially seeking members for our 2016 summer marching band. As a part of this group students will improve their musicianship, learn new music and make new friends. There is no audition regardless of experience, students will be taught everything they need to know by the instructional staff of college volunteers. CONGRATULATIONS!
The 14th annual ACT Young Playwrights Festival of award-winning work gathers talented writers ages 13-18 with a professional team of local directors and actors to bring their new plays to life in staged readings. Out of over 200 plays written last fall, ACT selected 8 winners. This year, two out of 8 winners of the ACT Young Playwrights Festival were BHS students! Claire Boynton and Diego Ortiz Villacorta San Juan
. Their plays were performed on stage last month, and an
anthology
containing all the plays was also published!
