UAB Informatics Institute Occupies New Space 
ICYMI, the UAB Informatics Institute (II) now inhabits the first floor of the Tinsley Harrison Research Tower. UAB President Dr. Ray Watts, UAB School of Medicine Dean Dr. Selwyn M. Vickers, and CCTS Director Dr. Robert P. Kimberly joined II Director James J. Cimino at the Grand Opening.

UAB to Host Academic Drug Discovery Colloquium 
On June 29-30, 2016, UAB will host an academic drug discovery colloquium at the new Hill University Center. Keynote speakers include experts from Emory, University of Virginia, and Weill Cornell Medical College, among others. An agenda and call for abstracts will be released soon - stay tuned! 
 
CCTS Triple Feature Wednesdays
On the first Wednesday of every month, CCTS now offers three consultation clinics: (1) Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design (BERD); (2) Bionutrition; and (3) Biorepository. All take place at PCAMS from 11:30am-1pm.

Center for Genomic Medicine Announces New 
Pilot Funding RFA 

The goal of the new CGM RFA is to stimulate UAB-HudsonAlpha collaborative pilot projects that will show leadership in integrating genetics and genomics into medicine. Award amount is $100,000 for up to two years. Applications due May 23, 2016.

Upcoming Events
Computational Genomics
This advanced immersion course offered by the Heflin Center for Genomic Sciences will provide attendees with experience in analyzing genomic data using a variety of Linux-based tools. Hands-on exercises will include searching the whole genome for causal variants, transcriptome for gene expression, and epigenetics for calling peaks in ChIP/ATAC-Seq.
