From The Rev. John Jenkins
O God, send your Holy Spirit to set aflame the hearts of your people, that those so chosen may follow your call to faithfully accompany the children and youth of Saint Paul's, to love and form them just as Christ loves and forms us; for the love of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

This week everyone at Saint Paul's was asked in a letter  to pray this prayer daily and to answer this question:  who do I know who enjoys being with children or youth?

Some of you do not know anyone who fits this criteria. That is ok; please keep praying this prayer. Some of you have made recommendations, and I thank you; please keep praying this prayer. Some of you have not yet shared your recommendations; please do so  and keep praying this  prayer.

Listening for God's call is not as ethereal as it may seem. God invites us to receive new life in seemingly ordinary ways. I believe that before we draw our first breath, God has planted seeds of life-callings-in our heart. Those seeds grow or wither depending on whether we notice and attend to them.

Where in your life do you notice moments of delight, surprise, curiosity, concern or joy? All of these are seeds of new life awaiting your attention, awaiting your response. The really unexpected surprise is that when you do attend to the life planted within, unspeakable peace and joy emerge.

Keep praying. Keep noticing. Keep growing in the knowledge and love of God.

In Christ,

ARE YOU A
CURIOUS
 EPISCOPALIAN

Well, of course you are. Aren't we all! But are you curious about the bible? What it is and what it is not; what the scholars do and do not know about it. Are you curious about the history, tradition and theological development of the church? Are you ready to debunk myths and move beyond children's bible stories? Are you ready to GROW and LEARN to integrate knowledge and faith into your daily life?

IF SO, you're not the only one!
The Saint Paul's EfM Seminar warmly invites you to join us at an informal and informative meeting about the  Education for Ministry (EfM) program in the Parlor on Sunday, May 8th or May 15th, following the Eleven o'clock Eucharist.

"Why me? I'm curious about these things, but I'm not interested in becoming a minister."
Too late! ALL baptized persons are ministers in the Episcopal Church (see page 855 BCP), and EfM is the premier program of intellectual and spiritual growth to equip our members to fully live into their baptismal vows:  to proclaim the Good News in Christ by word and example, to continue in the apostles' teachings, fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in the prayers, etc. (BCP 304-5).

JUST THE FACTS, PLEASE:
Briefly, what is EfM? It is an adult Christian formation program of the Episcopal Church of study, prayer, and reflection in a small group setting that helps participants grow in knowledge and in faith-connecting both in how they live as Christians in the world. The course spans the entire sweep of the Christian tradition from the earliest period to the present: Scripture, ethics, theology, church history, worship, and spirituality. The curriculum is comprised of four "years" of thirty-six week cycles of group meetings led by one or two mentors. The new "year" will begin in late August or early September. There are between five and six openings in the Sunday night group that meets from 6:45 and 9:00 PM; however, if there is sufficient interest a new weekday group may be formed that meets at Saint Paul's between 9:30 and noon.

NEXT STEPS:
Look for members of Saint Paul's EfM Group at an information table in the narthex (or on the porch) immediately before and after the 11:00 service and following the 5:30 service during the month of May. Also, Fr. Jenkins and Suzanne Crotteau, who both serve group mentors, welcome your inquiries.  Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. Alleluia! Alleluia!
Cornerstone

Dinner and prizes will be awarded. Bring your flashlights, insect repellent, and close-toed shoes. Please note the change in time and date. Contact Ranie Neislar with any questions.
Saint Paul's Day at the Ballpark
Friday, May 27, 7:00 PM, Lake Olmstead Stadium

"Take me out to the ball park...
Take me out to the game!"

That's right, Friday, May 27th at 7:00 PM Saint Paul's Church will help cheer on the Augusta Greenjackets at Lake Olmstead Stadium. While doing so, there will be an all you care to eat buffet of hamburgers, hot dogs, beans, cole slaw, fountain drinks, and tea to fill your tummies!

This night is sponsored by the Children, Youth, and Family Committee, and is designed to bring our church families together for fellowship and fun. There is no cost for this event; however, any donations will be gladly accepted to help defray the expenses.

It is very important that you reserve your spot now. The deadline is May 15th. Please email Todd Shafer   with your name, number of tickets you wish to receive for your family, email address, and a phone number.
