This Saturday HFM stretches our legs for spring and expands with the back row of vendors into the Grocery Outlet parking lot. What does that mean for you? More vendors with more fresh, local and delicious offerings for you to enjoy each week. If a vendor is not in the spot you saw them last, come check with the Information Booth at the SW corner of 44th and Hancock and we'll help you find them.
Last week
Deep Roots Farm had just a few pints of strawberries for the early market goers, but get ready because they have lots more on the harvest list for Saturday!
Happy Harvest Farm
also returns this week, and Jeff promises strawberries, lettuce, rhubarb and eggs. That's right, it finally time for STRAWBERRIES and RHUBARB!
Spring morels are in the peak of their season, be sure to stop at
Peak Forest Fruit
and
Nature's Wild Harvest to get your morsels or morels.
Hammer & Tuffy's Hand Roasted Granola and
House Spirits Distillery join us again at market this week, so be sure to plan trip to their stalls during your market adventure. Also back at market this week is
Dragonfly Forge, ready to serve you and all your blade sharpening needs.
Each Saturday in the summer, about 20 of your neighbors volunteer some of their time to help make the
Hollywood Farmers Market happen. If you're interested in joining them, this Saturday is our annual
volunteer orientation! See below section for more details, or email Ari at
[email protected].
The Hancock Street Mural Project continues to move forward, with plans for a street painting event sometime this summer . The project aims not only to beautify the farmers market, but also to unite the neighborhood community around the painting and to leave a reminder of the market on the street throughout the week. We are very excited about the project and hope that you will be too! The current draft design is below. If you are interested helping spread the word, recruit volunteers, draft a design, or complete the final painting email Sarah at [email protected]. Sarah will also have a booth at the market this Saturday, where she'll be collecting donations to cover the costs of the project.
See you Saturday at the market!

Volunteer Orientation April 30th!
|
"Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in."
-- Unknown
Interested in volunteering at the Hollywood Farmers Market this season? Come out to our annual Volunteer Orientation on Saturday, April 30th from 11am to 12:30 pm, at the Rose City Park Presbyterian Church at 1907 NE 45th Ave.
The Hollywood Farmers Market wouldn't be possible without the help of its volunteers. Every Saturday it takes 20 to 25 volunteers to keep the market running smoothly. A few early-riser volunteers show up at 7 am to set up the market's equipment (canopies, umbrellas, tables, chairs, signage) before customers begin arriving. During the market, volunteers answer customers' questions, pass out fliers about upcoming market events, allow vendors working solo to take breaks, do crowd counts, and anything else that comes up during the course of a busy market. Then, at the end of the market, they take all our equipment down and repack our storage space. Volunteers enable our market to function and they make it fun!
