Thomas M. DeLauro, DPM graduated from Brooklyn College cum laude with a BS in 1972, graduated from NYCPM magna cum laude and the valedictorian of his class in 1976, spent one year as a resident at Peninsula Hospital Center in Far Rockaway and then another one-year residency at Atlanta Hospital and Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia. He started working at the College in 1978 after he completed his residency in Atlanta.

Seven Student Choice Awards Presented at 2016 Football
In the gala atmosphere of the 2016 Football, held this year at Gustavino's in midtown Manhattan, seven Student Choice Awards were bestowed on faculty. The winners were:

Canadian Students Complete Clinical 
Studies at NYCPM
On April 21, six students from the Université du Québec à Trois-Riviéres were celebrated by staff and faculty for the completion of their clinical rotation at NYCPM. At the luncheon in their honor, both Thomas DeLauro, DPM ('76) and Michael J. Trepal, DPM ('81), VP for Academic Affairs and Dean, credited this group with helping to improve the program.

In his remarks, President and CEO Louis L. Levine noted that while podiatrists are more accepted in Canada by the medical community than in the past, podiatry is still not covered by Canada's national health insurance. Lisa Lee, Dean for Student Services and Enrollment, noted that the students, all seniors, would return the next day to their university for their graduation. After remarks in French by Marilyn Levine and Paul Tremblay, medical librarian, the students received their certificates. Bonne chance à toutes!

Two Faculty Members Honored at Dinner

At a dinner hosted by President and CEO Louis L. Levine for his dedicated faculty, held on April 11 at Guy's American Kitchen & Bar on Times Square, Samuel Adegboyega, DPM ('06), Clinical Instructor of Medical Sciences and Surgical Sciences (above), was honored for achieving his board certification. Daria Dykyj, PhD, Adjunct Professor of Pre-Clinical Sciences (below), who has retired, was honored for her 38 years of distinguished service. 

NYCPM Students Care for Boston Runners
On Monday April 18,15 members of NYCPM's Class of 2017 served as part of the medical team for the 120 th Boston Marathon, as did Jessica Olson, DPM, a 2014 graduate. Dr. Olson had been part of the medical team during the tragic bombing of the marathon in 2013. For this running, the students worked alongside a team from Temple University under the guidance of Jonathan Kaplan, DPM, who was thankful for the assistance. NYCPM also thanks him for giving our students this opportunity.
