After ICD-10 Implementation: A Look at the
Revenue Cycle Landscape
Tuesday, May 10 - Concord
Wednesday, May 11 - Garden Grove

AHIMA Approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainers:
Gloryanne Bryant, RHIA, CDIP, CCS, CCDS, and
Nancy Andersen, MS, RHIA, CCS

Join Gloryanne and Nancy for a full day seminar as they look at the revenue cycle changes impacted by the implementation of ICD-10-CM/PCS code set and discover how healthcare organizations are addressing and handling this transitional change. Although it appears that a "smooth" transition may have occurred, it is important to take a step back and look more closely at the landscape of the revenue cycle starting from the pre-admission process, clinical documentation improvement, case management, documentation, coding, and finally to billing and reimbursement.

During this program, the presenters will share their knowledge about ICD-10 and revenue cycle impact since October 2015. They will review key CMS communications and guidance, discuss RAC and medical necessity, address ICD-10-CM/PCS data quality and reporting, and understand the importance of ensuring compliance.
Two New HIM Baccalaureate Degree Programs
Two California Community Colleges will be offering a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Information Management (HIM) starting this fall, 2016.

As a result of Senate Bill 850, San Diego Mesa College and Shasta College received approval from the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office to offer a Bachelor of Science degree in HIM at the community college level as part of the Baccalaureate Degree Pilot Program.

The Bachelor of Science degree in HIM program provides accessible, high-quality industry-approved instruction designed to prepare students to work at a management level in a variety of healthcare settings including acute and sub-acute hospitals, outpatient clinics, government health agencies, and electronic health record industry vendors. The HIM program is seeking accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management (CAHIIM). Graduates of the program will be eligible to sit for the national RHIA certification exam once the accreditation has been approved.
