THIS WEEK'S SCRIPTURE
PASTOR'S BLOG
Greetings Cascade Family and Friends,

"Be a hero-Save a life!" "If you really want to lend a hand, lend an arm."  "One pint of blood can save three lives!" Just imagine that!  As announced, on Sunday, May 1, you will have another opportunity to DONATE BLOOD at Cascade UMC.  This is not anything new to us; in fact, we have a rich history of giving in large numbers.  This is, in my opinion, one of the many things that make Cascade a very special church body.  Though you may not have experienced this, I am sure you know about instances when blood donations saved lives in emergency surgeries, as well as accidents where surgery was necessary.

"It takes all types-Giving equals Living."  You should also know that blood donations from African Americans are always preferred for African Americans.  Our DNA is unique, as is all other ethnicities.  Therefore, our donations save more lives in our African American community than any other.  Cascade, we are a large church with numerous resources.  God had blessed us to be a light.  And there is no greater way to let your light shine than by giving blood.

On Sunday between 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., you can make a difference, be a hero, and save a life by donating one pint of blood.  This message is to encourage you.  Please pray about it and make every effort to be a donor. (Be sure to eat a hearty breakfast.)  And, if you are one of our "regulars," you already know how pleased it feels after making your donation.  If you are contemplating giving for the first time, just know that you will not regret it.  Call a friend.  Encourage a family member.  Invite someone you know to join you in this life-giving effort.  Know that God didn't add another day to your life because you needed it.  He did it because someone out there needs you.  So, I hope you will decide today to follow His good and perfect plan.

Thanks to all of you who continue to step up and roll up your sleeve!

Blessings,
Pastor Lawrence L. Young
