Dear CSAH Community,

April's spotlight topic is Lungs & Respiration. We have recently added a number of new resources about lungs and respiration to sagelink.ca.  In this issue, you will find resources related to the respiratory system, respiratory infections and other respiratory issues

Save the date! Our next Research & Innovation in Aging Forum will be held on May 17th from 4:00PM - 5:00PM at the Learning & Leadership Centre at Providence Care's Mental Health Services site, 752 King St W, Kingston Ontario. Dr. Michael Green will be discussing his research about diabetes within First Nations communities.

The Regional Geriatrics Programs of Ontario's Annual Education Day 2016  will be taking place on Thursday, June 9th at the Holiday Inn Toronto- Yorkdale. This year's theme is "Rethinking Frailty" and will feature our Director Dr. John Puxty as the keynote speaker. Early bird registration ends on April 30th 2016.

We are pleased to share an open access overview course on sageducation.ca. A different overview will be featured each month.  This month we welcome you to take an overview course on Depression in the Older Adult.  Please note that you will need Adobe Flash Player to run the course.

If you are involved with or know of a research project related to aging or the care of older adults, we would like the opportunity to share that information with our audience. Please contact info@sagelink.ca with the details you would like to share.

Sincerely,

CSAH team

Spotlight: Lungs & Respiration
Age-related changes to an older adults' respiratory system will lead to functional decline. These changes can contribute to an older person's ability to do vigorous exercise. Respiratory infections and influenza pose a more serious threat to older adults, as age-related changes also weaken the immune system.
