April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). The goal of SAAM is to raise awareness of sexual violence and to educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence. Check out the SAAM 2016 Events calendar for all the events.

	Aces Group: Open Meeting Mondays \| 5pm LGBT Resource Center Aces Group will be hosting meetings this Spring Quarter on Mondays at 5PM in the RC's Conference Room. For more information you can email jumpingovertherainbow@googlemail.com
	Trans Group Discussion Friday, 2-4pm \| Odd Weeks LGBT RC Conference Room The Trans Group is an intern-moderated gathering for transgender-identified individuals to have a designation place that is exclusively for trans people. It's a closed space. The new hours will allow for longer meetings, with more time to deeply delve into discussions or activities.
	Rainbow Graduation June 4th, 2016 \| 4-6pm Faculty Club Please join the UC San Diego LGBT community as we come together to honor the students who are graduating, our volunteers, our scholarship recipients and all who have impacted our community over the last year. The event serves as the formal induction of the graduates into the family of the UC San Diego LGBT Alumni. Although many people do get dressed up for the event, it tends to be a queer little get together, with all the trappings of our community, so be yourself. 	LGBT RC Open for Submissions! Interested in displaying your art at the LGBT Resource Center? We're open to any medium, from paintings, doodles, prints, poetry, stories, zines, comics, film, animation, music, to 3-D art pieces. Be sure to keep the values of our space in mind when submitting your art work: Family, Community, Respect, and Social Justice. Contact Art and Activism Intern Fri Garcia at frigarcia95@gmail.com. 	"All the Difference" Screening May 2nd, 2016 \| 6:30pm Cross-Cultural Center Come join in watching a screening of the PBS film "All the Difference" set to be aired in the fall of 2016. The film chronicles the five year journey of two Chicago teens. One chooses to go to a predominantly white institution and the other to a HBCU.

	Intergenerational Queer/Trans of Color Mixer May 4th, 2016 \| 1:30-3:00pm Cross-Cultural Center Communidad Room QTPOC's We Are Family Retention Program and the Critical Gender Studies Program presents an intergenerational mixer space open to faculty, staff, grad students, and undergrads who identify as queer and or trans people of color. 	Life Skills Series: The Power of No May 4th, 2016 \| 12-1pm Women's Center It can be challenging to say no to friends, family, and others close to us. This is especially true for women. Join us for an interactive workshop on learning to say no, and how to put ourselves first. Lunch provided.
	Dining and Dialogue: Feminist Parenting May 5th, 2016 \| 6-8pm Women's Center Come enjoy some dinner and have a discussion about ways in which patriarchy appears in family structures. We will evaluate and identify alternatives to the role parents play in perpetuating harmful ideas. Dinner will be served.

	Grad Student Demographic Surveys A collective of UCSD grads have created these surveys in an attempt to make your experiences, issues, ideas and needs heard by both fellow grads and the UCSD staff. Please help offer an understanding of the UCSD graduate experience and campus climate through your responses regarding issues you face on campus, specifically as it relates to racial and/or gender identity. Your responses will help make a clear case for institutional reflection and change. There is a survey for women here and one for racial minorities here. 	Community Policing Town Hall April 28th, 2016 \| 5:00-8:30pm Porter's Pub The interactions between the police and the communities they serve great concern. The focus of this town hall will be to discuss how perceptions of both police and the policed on campus prevent the trust and communication which are necessary for a healthy space. Another aim of this event is to dedicate time and thought to envisioning what community policing should look like on campus. It is our hope that we will break out of the crisis-mode/complacency cycle towards a more proactive and effective community policing (CP) strategy. Our suggestions will be implemented in UCSD PD training and included in a report to the administration. Refreshments will be provided.
	The Latino/a LGBT Experience April 29th, 2016 \| 12-1pm University Center Conference Room 111A Come hear four fascinating LGBT Latino/a professionals talk about their experiences being part of these two communities, and how that intersection of identity has impacted them. It's sure to be an interesting panel. The panelists will be Nicolette Ibarra, Trans Activist; Fernando Lopez, Director of Operations at San Diego Pride; Octavio Ochoa, UCSD Staff, Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry; and Father Dermot Rodgers, an openly gay Roman Catholic Priest. 	Apply to be a Peer Leader! Deadline: May 1st, 2016 @10am The Chancellor's Associates Scholar's Program is looking for Peer Leaders! Peer Leaders provide support related to academic, personal, and sociocultural issues affecting CASP students' college transition. Their role is to foster a welcoming, safe, and inclusive community and encourage student development. It's a paid role. Check out more info here.
	Queer and Asian Conference - In(di)visible April 29th - May 1st, 2016 In(di)visible will be hosted at the University of California, Berkeley, from Friday April 29th to Sunday May 1st, 2016. Conference admission is open to any individual who expresses interest in the issues or the community; we encourage queer Asians and our allies from everywhere to come attend. 	Dining Out for Life® San Diego April 28th, 2016 On Thursday, April 28, 2016, more than 100 participating restaurants, bars, coffeehouses and nightclubs in San Diego will donate 25-100% of sales to The Center's HIV/AIDS services and prevention program. 	Book Presentation and Signing May 3rd, 2016 \| 3:00-4:30pm Cross-Cultural Center Dr. Evelyn Ibatan Rodriguez will be present to celebrate her new book, Celebrating Dubutantes and Quinceañeras: Coming of Age in American Ethnic Communities. A limited supply of books are available for purchase. Dr. Rodriguez is an Associate Professor for the University of San Francisco's Department of Sociology, and the only tenured Filipina at the university.

Andra Jacques is the Study Abroad Coordinator at UCSD. She recruits for and advises students on education abroad opportunities with a special emphasis on UCSD Global Seminars and diversity outreach.

Andra graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University with a B.A. in International Studies with a Peace Studies concentration. During her undergrad, she studied abroad in Siracusa, Sicily and has since traveled throughout Europe, Central America and Africa. Some of her most impactful experiences abroad have been performing on-site coordination for a faculty-led program for two summers in rural Akatsi, Ghana.

Latino Cancer Training Éxito! will select 25 master's-level students and professionals-like Jimenez and Berrios-from across the nation to attend a five-day summer institute June 6-10, 2016, in San Antonio, offering research information, tools, tips, role models and motivation to encourage participants to pursue a doctoral degree and a career studying how cancer affects Latinos differently. Healing Yoga for Trans Folks and Friends Saturdays \| 10:45am 3909 Centre Street, San Diego, CA 92103 This class is free and open to Trans folks and allies. Class begins at 10:45 and is taught by Christine Taylor, who has generously donated her time. Healing Yoga teachings are derived from the self-empowering practices of yoga, utilizing a wide range of tools to help enhance well-being and health. Academic Writers on LGBTQ Topics Needed Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Americans at Risk: Problems and Solutions will be a 3-volume reference on LGBTQI history, politics, law, and culture in the US. Each contributor will write an essay of around 8,000 words on their choice of topics. This project is open to all writers. Young Women's Discussion Group Third Tuesday of each month 3909 Centre Street, San Diego, CA 92103 This group is aimed at young women ages 18-30. We will discuss issues relevant such as politics, academics, careers, relationships, social media, pop culture, activism and ways to be involved in the LGBT community. We hope to provide a safe and comfortable place to meet and share experiences as members of the LGBT community. It meets in The LGBT Center's library.	New Free App to Find LGBT Roommates: TUTUroomii A San Diego team recently launched a new iOS app called TUTUroomii. This app is designed to help LGBTQ+ young people and allies find ideal roommates in their own community. This app is available in the App Store. Survey of LGBTQ Military Personnel A doctoral student at the University of Oklahoma is writing a dissertation on the identity process of LGBTQ people who have served in the U.S. military. They're interested in reaching LGBTQ U.S. military personnel, and heterosexual/cisgender personnel who had a personal or professional relationship with an LGBTQ military service person (someone to whom an LGBTQ service member disclosed their sexual or gender identity).
