Webinar: We Have Been Entrusted as the Caretakers and Stewards of Planet Earth
This webinar, hosted by the ISNA Green Masjid Task Force, is a part of the ISNA Green Initiative to commemorate the universal Earth Week and Arbor Day. Webinar presenters will be Sr. Uzma Mirza and Br. Saffet Catovic, moderated by Sr. Nana Firman.

Earth Week is a week-long set of organized observances and activities across the globe.  It may be considered as a formal recognition, re-affirmation and celebration of our role as human beings as Khalifatul Ard - Caretakers of the Earth, while the Arbor Day is dedicated to encourage individuals and groups to plant and care for the trees.

MYNA Updates
The leadership of the Muslim Youth of North America was pleased to be in attendance and  be a part of the organization process of ISNA's Interfaith and Government Forum in DC. Three Executive Committee members, including President Sayeed Siddiqui, Vice President Alaa Abdeldaiem and Outreach Coordinator Zoya Khan, were all in attendance. The two-day conference began with a press conference, followed by a meeting with government officials in the Eisenhower Building. MYNA Leadership had the opportunity to converse with Government officials leading grassroots efforts to create a more inclusive American environment for Muslim Americans. At the gathering  on Thursday in the Capitol building, MYNA President Sayeed Siddiqui addressed the crowd in regards to having the youth involved in civic conversations and leadership. Thursday evening, MYNA Vice President  Alaa Abdeldaiem had the opportunity to connect with her state representative and one of two Muslim congress persons, Andre Carson. Friday was dedicated to Intra-faith conversation, which took place in the United Methodist Building. Following this dialogue, attendees had the opportunity to attend Jummah Salah in the Capitol building, praying side by side with lawmakers, staffers, bureaucrats and ultimately fellow Muslim Americans. The Forum ended with a Banquet on Friday  night, during which MYNA Vice President Alaa Abdeldiem addressed the attendees in regards to the resources that MYNA provides for Muslim American Youth, such as camps, local chapters, youth track at ISNA's national convention, and the HIRA Intensive Program. ISNA's Interfaith and Government Forum was an opportunity for Muslim American youth to be part of the larger conversation about shaping the future for Muslim Americans in Interfaith and Government narratives.

MYNA held its Spring Break Retreat in California on March 25-27. Over 60 campers traveled to Camp Loma Mar to immerse themselves in the rich history of Islamic contributions to society. Youth took a tour through the timeline of our faith in history from before Christopher Columbus to today's Muslim athletes, celebrities, inventors, and more. Sessions were led by guest speakers including Zahra Billoo and Dr. Omar Mahmood. Interactive workshops allowed campers to visualize what it meant to repaint the Muslim canvas and address common issues they faced today, connecting with their brothers and sisters and working together to find solutions throughout the process. Three days of learning was coupled with recreational escapes including zip-lining, hiking and field games. When it came time for the camp to come to an end, youth were reluctant to leave, awed at the ability for just one weekend to leave a lasting impact on their lives.

MYNA brought the same camp to Camp Carter in Fort Worth, TX on April 8-10. The campsite featured two beautiful lakes surrounded by canopy of trees where the youth participated in various lectures, workshops, worship and recreational activities. Youth from the Greater Texas Area drove and flew down for three days of integrated programing where they learned about the many contributions Muslims made in civilization, their benefits to society-past, present and future. The weather allowed for many outside programming: zip-lining, canoeing and two bonfires where youth had emotional and inspirational reflections, prayer and worship and an opportunity to bond with each other. They also participated in workshops on style methods in beautifying Qur'an  recitations and on strengthening friendships and connections .
