Book Character Day

Friday, February 27

All preschool and elementary students and teachers are urged to dress as a favorite book character and carry their book in the BCD parade. Students are asked to make a $15.00 donation to the Elementary Library for the purchase of new books. The Parade will begin at 8:05 A.M. Parents, friends and family are invited to line the hallways and watch the parade! Students should gain teacher approval for costume ideas. Book Character Day is tied in with "Read the Most From Coast to Coast" which is the national AR Quiz Challenge when students will take as many AR quizzes as possible that day.  ALL students PK3 through fifth grade are encouraged to dress up and will walk in the parade. Students first through seventh grade will participate in taking A.R. quizzes. We look forward to your participation to spark the love of reading among ALL of our students!

ELCA NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT

NO GIFT IS TOO SMALL

As Mr. Gilliam shared at the State of School, we are embarking on very exciting times here at ELCA!  Our school is being presented with the opportunity to purchase this entire campus and have all of these facilities for our sole dedicated use.  What a great time to be a part of the ELCA Family as we take this next step of faith to secure the legacy of our school.

We will have some immediate needs and projected needs as the vision unfolds.  It will take a lot of resources to make this a reality and this is where you can help.

In order to maximize ELCA's opportunities of leveraging the support from outside Foundation via grants, it is critical that we have full 100% participation in giving to the ELCA Fund from each of our existing families.

If you have not yet made your contribution to this year's ELCA Fund, please do so today either on-line at www.elcaonline.org/give, or by picking up a donation form in the front lobby.  No donation is too small, as all gifts are equal when looking at our overall family giving percentage.  Please contact Director of Development Al Hosford at (678) 818-1031 with any questions, and we look forward to your support.

STAR Student and
STAR Teacher
We're so proud of our 2015 STAR Student, Davis Reynolds. The STAR student is the senior who scores highest on the SAT who is also in the top 10% of his class  based on the cumulative high school (grades 9 through 11) grade average. Davis chose Mrs. Jennifer Williams as his STAR Teacher.

Congratulations, Davis!

Big Hearts for Little Kids

Art students helped to make a difference in the lives of kids waiting to get their hearts fixed at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. They made Valentine cards to give to the HEART STRONG kids at the Sibley Heart Center. CHOA Community Outreach Director, Laura Turner picked up all the cards this week for delivery by Valentine's Day. What a wonderful show of love!

Pictured above are the art students (7th grade and up) who participated by making beautifully decorated cards. Below, 6th grade art students made 65 woven heart Valentines for the patients at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Pictured below are Delaney Terry, Grace Shockley, Hannah Ekstedt, Marlo McBrayer, Bella Bell and Madeline Reagan.

What's up in Preschool?

Our K3 and K4 Preschool students are always

experiencing something new and exciting!

The K3 and K4 students recently enjoyed a visit from the Tooth Fairy!  She talked to the students about Dental Health.  The students learned about which foods were good for their teeth and which foods were bad.  They learned how to care for their teeth by brushing and flossing each day!  The Tooth Fairy gave each student their very own story book about the Tooth Fairy.   In the book there is a page for them to record the dates when they lose their baby teeth and the Tooth Fairy comes to visit them.  It was a fun time of learning all about Dental Health!

K3 students celebrated Valentine's Day with a Prince and Princess Tea.  Our halls were full of Princes and Princesses looking their finest!  The students enjoyed a special valentine cookie snack, pinning the lips on the frog, and creating special valentine crafts.  There was even a visit to the castle where pictures were taken to remember the special day!  Everyone had a grand time and looked so spiffy for the special day!

PERHAPS YOU CAN HELP...

Eagle's Landing Christian Academy will host its First Annual Mock Job Interview Fair on March 2-3, 2015 in the theater room.  The administrators, staff, and students are excited about this opportunity, and our students are working diligently to prepare for this event!

We need your help!  We are searching for professionals to serve as volunteer interviewers.  We welcome your participation in this event and hope that you will be able to join us.  If possible, we are asking that interviewers stay from 8:00 - 1:30.

If you are interested and available for only a portion of that time, we welcome your participation as well.

As an interviewer, you can volunteer one or both days.  Interviews for each ELCA student will last approximately 10-20 minutes and be generic in content.  Volunteer interviewers are invited to join us for lunch in our school lunchroom.

We are looking forward to a great event and hope that you are able to help us by volunteering as an interviewer.  If you are able to help, simply email, fax, or mail the flyer to my attention at Eagle's Landing Christian Academy.  Please indicate the day(s) and times you will be able to interview on the form and I will contact you with a confirmation of your interview schedule.

Thank you very much for helping to prepare our students and ensure their success as they transition from school to work!
