Clyde the Chomping Chihuahua

Meet Clyde, an eight-year old Chihuahua and rat terrier mix. Although he may seem like a tiny little guy, don't be fooled! According to his owner, Charlie, Clyde constantly surprises everyone with how much he can eat. You can usually find him chowing down on a delicious treat or snack. And while all that chomping often left Clyde with stinky doggie breath, things took a serious turn for the worse when Charlie noticed that it was becoming painful for Clyde to eat.

"It was really difficult to see," Charlie says, "he would yelp any time he went to his food bowl. I could tell he wanted to eat, but he couldn't chew at all anymore, he was in so much pain." Distraught, Charlie took Clyde to several different veterinarians who told him that Clyde had severe tartar buildup and dental disease. Surgery and treatment were beyond what Charlie could afford, so he left with only antibiotics and no hope of getting Clyde the real treatment he needed to be healthy again.

A friend told Charlie about PetAid Animal Hospital, and he took Clyde in right away. Thanks to the donor-subsidized discounts PetAid can offer, Charlie was able to afford the treatment his best friend desperately needed. After surgery to remove damaged teeth and a thorough dental cleaning, Clyde went home the same day. "Now," says Charlie, "he has his appetite back and is eating more than ever!" Clyde is once again his normal, feisty self, and his family is overjoyed to see him fully recovered and able to chomp away on his favorite treats!

Just One Click Can Make a Big Difference!

PetAid Animal Hospital cares for over 7,200 pets in need every year. We recently reached our Scrub-a-Dub-Dub goal for a new commercial washing machine to help keep our patients comfortable in clean blankets, towels, and linens. A huge thank you to all of our generous donors! We'd also like to acknowledge the family of Abby Lee Meisterplass and express a very special thank you for providing a major portion of the donation needed to fund the machine.

Pet Aid Animal Hospital's next equipment campaign is to assist our postoperative patients as best we can with a speedy recovery. Surgery is ruff! After a surgical operation, recovery is not always easy, in particular for our smaller furry friends. One complication that can arise
after surgery is hypothermia, a lowering of the body's temperature that can create a whole host of potential complications by delaying the healing of the patient.

To prevent this from happening, PetAid Animal Hospita l's  current goal is to obtain a Warm Touch Convective Warming System . This warm air heater keeps an animal's temperature at a healthy level for them while their bodies start to heal.

Help us fund a Warm Touch Convective Warming System so that the patients we service can leave suffering behind, return to health, and stay in loving homes. Donate now to http://www.loveanimals.org/pets/sit-stay-heal.html to get our furry patients back on their paws!

Girl Scouts Support PetAid Colorado

Troop #61608 from the Girl Scouts of America paid us a visit earlier this month to take a tour of PetAid Animal Hospital. They were incredibly excited to get a firsthand view of the exam rooms, laboratory, pharmacy, and of course, all of the cats and dogs! One Girl Scout told us "I want to be a veterinarian when I grow up!" after seeing our hospital team in action.

The troop's leader was a former client and told us after the tour that because her experience with PetAid Animal Hospital had been such a memorable one in her life, the Girl Scouts had taken a vote and decided as a troop to donate $500 to the hospital. This generous gift will provide enough for eight underprivileged animals to be medically cared for. The girls earned the money after walking tirelessly from door-to-door selling cookies with the hopes of "saving as many animals as we can." Thank you Girl Scouts Troop #61608, not only for keeping us in your thoughts, but also for all of your hard work and dedication!
