May is a month of sunshine, hope of summer, and Mother’s Day.
I remember as a small child getting so excited about buying my Mom a Mother's Day gift and preparing strange meals and snacks for her with my brothers. No matter how ugly the gifts were or how awful the food tasted, my Mom always loved it - because it was filled with love. It was a child's way of saying, "Thanks Mom, for all you do, and I love you".
I think now of all the amazing Moms I know who are raising children with Reactive Attachment Disorder. Their children won't be making them scribbled, misspelled cards, bringing them burnt toast and eggs in bed, or picking out strange gifts that only a mother could love. These children won't be thanking their Moms for all the hard work they do, or saying, "I love you".
Moms, some day when your child’s heart is whole they will thank you, but in the meantime, for this Mother’s Day, I want to thank you.
Thank You,for bringing your child into your home and into your heart.
Thank You,for loving your child unconditionally, even when they act so unlovable.
Thank You,for being strong enough to heal your child’s heart, no matter how much you hurt.
Thank You,for giving up years of your life to give your child the chance to love.
Thank You,for having the courage to stand up in the face of opposition to do what is right for your child.
Thank You,for all you do and all you put up with.
Thank You, with all my heart.
With Love, Karen
