The Month of May is the Month of Mary

Here at St. Josaphat, we started the Month of Mary with the May Crowning at the 10:00 am Mass on May 1. Many of Saturday's First Communicants, dressed in their precious First Communion finery, returned to church on Sunday, to offer flowers in honor of our Blessed Mother.

May is the "month which the piety of the faithful has especially dedicated to Our Blessed Lady." During this month Christians, both in church and in the privacy of the home, offer up to Mary from their hearts an especially fervent and loving homage of prayer and veneration. In this month, too, the benefits of God's mercy come down to us from her throne in greater abundance" (Paul VI: Encyclical on the Month of May, no. 1).

The Blessed Virgin Mary is the Mother of the Church and therefore the example, as well as the guide and inspiration, of everyone who, in and through the Church, seeks to be the servant of God and man and the obedient agent of the promptings of the Holy Spirit.

Some options to honor Mary during the month of May:
Pray the Rosary

Pray the Memorare

Make a Daily Devotion

Create a May Altar in your home

Wear blue!

HERE AT ST. JOSAPHAT, THIS MAY IS ALSO PLEDGE MONTH!

May is Pledge Month for the Rebuilding Our Home Campaign. This month we will be providing opportunities for fast, easy pledging! There will be tables in the back of church the next three weekends: May 14-15, May 21-22 and May 28-29. Steering Committee members will be available after every Mass to hand you your pledge card. There will also be private areas set-up for you to complete your pledge card. In addition, on the next three Wednesdays: May 11, May 18 and May 25, the church will be opened and tables will be set-up at the back of church at school drop-off (from 7:45 - 8:30 a.m.). Steering Committee members will again be present to hand out pledge cards and answer any questions. Please use these easy, convenient opportunities to participate in Rebuilding Our Home.

Right now we are at 45% of our $3 Million goal. We need your support to reach our goal! And we hope to have 100% participation. If you haven't already discussed your pledge to Rebuilding Our Home in your home, consider doing so this week and give prayerful consideration of what you can do.

Remember, St. Josaphat is our spiritual home. It has been a gift to us from our predecessors in faith. Let's keep that legacy of faith alive.
