May 2016
Thank you to our membership and the board of directors of the Bedford Park-Clearing Industrial Association (BPCIA) for the privilege of being the next President of the association. I have worked at Independence Tube for 31 years and am currently the Production Control Manager for the Bedford Park Plant. I have been on the BPCIA board since April of 2009 and look forward to the challenge of serving as President. The association has a tradition of being the conduit between business members of the area, civic leaders of the village, and people interested in the advancement of our community.
The association is based upon a membership that is informed of important issues that affect us. The board of directors welcome your comments and suggestions for making BPCIA the best resource we can be for you. A great resource for keeping up to date is our website   www.bpcia.org.
Strengthen your networking base by attending our luncheon meetings, golf outings, business expo and other events we host. Our upcoming events are listed in this newsletter, as well as on our website. For any questions or to make reservations, please call Donna at 708-496-0336.
On behalf of your association board members, we look forward to seeing you soon and making this a rewarding year. Together, we will continue to grow and strengthen the association.

Sincerely,
Cheryl Laska
BPCIA President

How To Comply with EPA's New Boiler "MACT" Rules
"MACT RULE (5d) & GACT RULE (6J)"
YOU MAY ASK, "HOW DO I KNOW IF THE EPA RULES APPLY TO ME?"
If you operate a boiler, these rules could apply to you. The rules vary based on a boiler's size, age, fuel type, and emissions.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE EPA RULES?
Specific fines or actions associated with non-compliance have yet to be outlined by the EPA.

MACT (5D) RULE:
  • Industrial, Commercial, Institutional (ICI) boilers and process heaters - Final air toxics standards for major sources.
  • Applies to coal, oil, biomass (i.e., wood products), natural gas, refinery gas boilers and process heaters
  • Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 63.7480 through 63.7575
GACT (6J) RULE:
  • ICI Boilers - Final air toxics standards for area sources (i.e., minor sources)
  • Coal, oil, biomass boilers (and not natural gas)
  • Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 63.11193 through 63.11237
WHAT EQUIPMENT TYPES ARE NOT SUBJECT TO THIS RULE?
  • Boilers and process heaters that combust solid waste
  • Temporary (moveable, 12 months-single location, for major sources)
REPORTING TO PROVIDE:
  • Boiler & Process Heater TUNE UP Regulations require stack testing of Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide & Carbon Monoxide.
  • A basic Burner Tune Up/Inspection. Clean and replace any burner components - if needed?
  • Optimize the fuel/air ratio and ensure that all is correctly calibrated.
  • BEFORE AND AFTER COMBUSTION READINGS MUST BE DOCUMENTED. EVEN IF NO ADJUSTMENTS WERE REQUIRED!

We know that a lot of these Regulations can be confusing.
Give American Combustion Service, Inc. a call & we will do our best to get you in compliance! (773) 737.9200
