Free Nachos and Soft Drinks...share proud moments in your culture's history with new friends!

Our Monthly Coalition Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 5th Cinco de Mayo. This will be a "no agenda" meeting at El Colima. This is meant to be an opportunity to engage others from the community in a fun casual setting. We can promote and celebrate accomplishments with complimentary non-alcoholic beverages and muchos nachos....

Here is what Wikipedia had to say about Cinco de Mayo...

Cinco de May has it's roos in the French occupation of Mexico, which took place in the aftermath of the Mexican -American War of 1846-48 and the 1858-61 Reform War.   In a 1998 study in the Journal of American Culture it was reported that there were more than 120 official US celebrations of Cinco de Mayo in 21 different US states.  An update in 2016 found that the number of official Cinco de mayo events was 150 or more, according to Jose' Alamillo, a professor of ethnic studies at Washington State University in Pullman who has studied the cultural impact of Cindo de Mayo north of the border.
