May 2016
Greetings!
The "May flowers" are popping (fiddleheads too), and with them oodles of Spring- and gardening-related events. Read on for some home and garden inspirations, two fun races for worthy causes, and plenty of events to get you out and about with a little extra "spring" in your step this month!

Home Garden Flower Show: May Fair
We are excited to be a part of this year's Home Garden Flower Show, May 13, 14 and 15 at Fryeburg Fairgrounds. In its 16th year, the Home Garden Flower Show features almost 300 vendors throughout seven buildings and spans over 5 acres of outdoor space. Energy efficiency is an important part of the show, along with a "Meet the Chefs" cooking series; "Celebrate Art" demonstrations; a Craft Beer, Wine & Cheese Pavilion; the Garden Marketplace; and the Farmer's Market. There's something for everyone, and for you, a special 2-for-1 deal!

Creating bee friendly gardens and landscapes
Whether a rural homestead or a tiny urban lot, the most attractive gardens and landscapes buzz with bees, butterflies, birds and other pollinators. Creating a landscape inviting to pollinators adds interest and action while providing a much-needed lifeline to critical species struggling to survive. It's something all of us can do to help domesticated honeybees and native pollinators, whose numbers have declined sharply due to a host of suspected factors, including loss of habitat, diseases and pesticides.
