News from Rockville Science Center, May 2016
Thank you to all for making Science Day a great one!
What a beautiful sunny day we had for Rockville Science Day 2016 on April 24. Thanks to Mayor Bridget Newton for welcoming remarks, to Kristin Kepner of RHS for singing the national anthem, to Montgomery College for the space, to Kiwanis Club of Rockville for food, to our hundreds of exhibitors and volunteers, and to the 3,000 people who attended and helped make #SciDay2016 a fantastic one!

If you have photos or video from the event, we'd be glad to add them to our collection with credit to you.  Email photos or a link to news@rockvillesciencecenter.org.

Call for Makerspace Volunteers
Makerspace in a Connecticut library

Attention "makers", engineers, scientists, crafters, retirees, college students, and tech buffs!

Rockville Science Center is excited to announce that we've been invited by Montgomery County to operate a makerspace ( a shared space with tools for designing, creating, and building things) in the Rockville Library in Rockville Town Square. We are looking for volunteers for staffing to get it going and plan to start operations in June.

Our team of friendly makers like you will supervise the new area, advise users about equipment, field basic questions, and, if you are up for it, even lead a class or two! This is an unpaid volunteer position, but there is a lot of opportunity to meet like-minded people, and be part of a new initiative of Rockville Science Center and a great development for Montgomery County.

We are looking for volunteers for 3-hour shifts, on one day or more each week. Low stress environment and lots of support. Very convenient and safe location in Rockville Town Center. Target operating hours are Monday-Friday 3:00pm-9:00pm and Saturday 10am-5:00pm.
