Program Description:
Valerie Magnuson is the Director of Louisville Grows, a non-profit working to grow a just and sustainable community through urban agriculture, urban forestry, and environmental education.  Valerie will present an overview of the Love Louisville Trees program and it's engagement of 'Citizen Foresters' to reforest our urban neighborhoods.

 
Fee:  Free for AIA members, $20 for non-members.

Course:  AIA 06MCI - ' Specifying Metal Ceilings
Presented by: Armstrong

This course will help participants understand the attributes and benefits of using metal ceilings. This one-hour course identifies key segments and spaces where metal is being used today in commercial interiors, as well as its use in exterior applications. The course also describes the possibilities and limitations in specifying a variety of different sizes, shapes, and patterns.

Friday, June 3rd:
For those coming up on Friday, dinner to be at a restaurant in Berea.  Details will be forthcoming soon.
 
Saturday, June 4th:
8:30am - Registration and continental breakfast.
9:00am - Seminar 1:   LEED v4: New and Substantially Changed   
10:00am -Seminar 2:   Commercial Value and Uses for Solar Energy 
11:00am -Seminar 3:   Discover the WELL Building Standard
Each seminar will be worth:  1.0 AIA HSW LU & 1.0 GBCI credit (3 total)

Lunch will be from noon to 1:00.  All programming (seminars and meals) up to this point will be held at Boone Tavern.
 
The afternoon programming will be a walking tour of several buildings on the Berea College Campus.
1:30 - 2:30:  Tour of Deep Green
2:45 - 3:15:  Tour of Dana Hall
3:30 - 4:15:  Tour of Bingham Hall (construction site visit, appropriate attire will be required)
4:30 - 5:15:  Tour of Boone Tavern
Tour will be worth:  3 .5 AIA HSW LU & 3.5 GBCI credit

6:30pm - Dinner at Boone Tavern.
Program following dinner TBA.  It could be a movie or we may just socialize with drinks.

Total AIA & GBCI CEUs for the day: 6.5 (all HSW).

Cost for entire day is $40 for AIA members and guests, $60 for non members.
 
A block of rooms has been reserved for conference attendees and reservations can be made directly with Boone Tavern. To make reservations, contact the hotel directly by phone at 859-985-3700.
Be sure to ask for the American Institute of Architects rates as follows:

AIA/CKC Leadership grants for Leadership Louisville Now Open
Applications are available for the Leadership Louisville's Class of 2017 in April and due May 20, 2016.  The  AIA-CKC is offering Leadership Grants of up to $2,000 to help offset some of the costs of participating in this program for any chapter member.  If you are interested in hearing more about Leadership Louisville or the Leadership Grants AIA-CKC is offering, please contact Jason Groneck at [email protected].  Jason is a graduate of a previous Leadership Louisville Class and is willing to sit with  any candidates considering applying and help them strategize gaining acceptance.

'Preserving Local History' , Sunday, May 22nd, 2 - 3 pm, Samuel Plato Academy, 1701 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd.:  This event is for anyone interested in knowing how to place a property on the National Register of Historic Places, how to designate a local landmark, or how to install a historic roadside marker.  Free and open to the public.
 
'Historic Houses of New Albany'. Thursday, June 2nd, 6 - 7 pm, Culbertson Mansion, 914 e Main Street, New Albany.  Find out more about the distinctive residential architecture of New Albany and the interesting tales of the designers who built them. Free and open to the public.
