From the President's Desk

Graduation meetings were held on each campus this week.  Many graduates attended, picked up their gowns and tickets for Commencement on Saturday, May 14 at the Chuck Mathena Center in Princeton.  Early counts indicate approximately 150 of the 336 graduates will be in attendance to receive their degree.

I attended the Phi Theta Kappa All American awards ceremony hosted by Governor Tomblin on Wednesday.  New River CTC had four students receive this designation: Alexandria Battaile, Joy Vance and Mary Pomeroy. Madison Frame was unable to attend the event. We have an additional 51 students who are members of the Phi Theta Kappa Honorary Society and the College has 124 students graduating with honors.

Thank you for your continued efforts in assisting our students achieve these goals!

PEIA - HOW TO FIND YOUR INSURANCE PREMIUM RATE

HR has entered the new salaries into PEIA's website. If your reduced salary drops you into a lower Salary Index, your premium will be reduced beginning May 1st. Index levels are included below:
  • To identify your new salary, multiply your original base salary by the new lowered FTE (ex: $30,000 x .80) or subtract the reduction from the original base salary (ex: $30000 - 20%).
  • Next, find your new salary in the Index level for the type of coverage you have (family, employee + children, etc.). The premiums are listed beginning on page 32 of the Shopper's Guide.
  • You will then subtract any discounts you currently have such as tobacco free and living will discounts to identify your new premium.

Connecting Our Community

New River CTC's Advanced Technology Center welcomed 22 students from Greenbrier East and Greenbrier West High Schools on April 21.

"During the tour, our instructors showed their passion for their field; New River CTC student, William Fair, spoke from the heart on his experience at the College; and Megan, Will and Bilal worked hard to make sure that the students were taken care of," said Director of Enrollment Services Tracy Evans.  "This was a great a day for NewRiver CTC to showcase not only its programs, but its amazing team of instructors and staff!"
