We thank Harvey Worth for reading Torah this week as he honours the memories of his and Arlene Grajcer's family members.

At this service, we will also honour members Ed Weiss and Mollie Roskies on the occasion of their upcoming marriage.

The session will focus on the learning-enrichment sessions and other details of our unique, enriching program (see below for more information;  sign up by Friday May 6th at 4:00 pm, for the May 8 session here).

We are recruiting families with young people who will be at least age 13 in 2017 to early 2018.    Our next b'nei mitzvah program will begin in the autumn of 2016, when we will welcome a small cohort of candidates.

If you are interested in the program, but cannot make it to the session on May 8, we will be happy to share the info with you.  Just get in touch!

Our present cohort of Bnei Mitzvot learners and their families and friends went on a tour of Jewish Toronto in the Kensington Market area last November. Here they are in front of Cecil Community Centre, the site of Shir Libeynu's High Holy Day services for many years and a shul in the 1920s.

You can expect: a learning enrichment program that will include a series of workshops and sessions with the children, as well as their families; social opportunities for families at  oneg Shabbat , tours of Jewish Toronto and other events; a social-action/tikkun olam  project, and more.

OUR ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAM
INCLUSIVE PRACTICES: NO SHIR LIBEYNITE LEFT BEHIND

This is an informal series of Jewish learning workshops on various topics that our members say are important and relevant to them.  They usually take place after the kiddishes, in the chapel or classroom at the MNJCC, starting at 12:45 p.m. and ending at 2 p.m; occasionally they will take place at other times. You do not need expertise in any of these topics in order to participate. If you have enough expertise to lead a session or if you have specific questions, write to: (Jonathan Silin-Education Director) [email protected].

Saturday, May 7, at the  MNJCC
9:00 a.m., before the service, in the chapel

"Ma Nishtana: Tell me what is the difference?" a conversation with Rabbi Aviva Goldberg

Defining the Shir Libeynu ethos from our inception to today: this is an opportunity for us to consider together the basic tenets of Congregation Shir Libeynu, including our philosophy, theology and approach to Jewish worship, ritual and prayer.

Please note there is no food or drink (except water) allowed in the chapel.

All Welcome!
