Kingston is a charming waterfront city with easy access to parks, beaches, trails, inviting shops and unique eateries. Arrive by ferry from Edmonds, tie up your own boat at one of the marina's 49 guest slips  or come by car or bike.
Be sure to visit Mike Wallace Park next to the ferry and marina for a host of community activities, including the Saturday farmers market and free summer concerts. Golfers can hit the links at the world-class White Horse Golf Club. There's fine art at Almost Candid and an amazing array of food choices, including creative locavore restaurant Mossback.  Things To Do in May

 May is Festival Month   
Poulsbo kicks off the festival season May 20-22 with Viking Fest, a celebration of the town's Norwegian heritage. There's a street race, parade, doughnut-eating contest, carnival, stand-up paddle board race and much more small-town fun.  On May 21, Bremerton hosts the largest and longest-running Armed Forces Day Parade in the nation. The event includes a Heroes' Barbecue for active-duty, reserve, retired and veteran service personnel.  Celebrate Memorial Day weekend on the Bremerton Marina Boardwalk at the Kitsap Harbor Festival. There will be historic ships visiting, pirates roaming the boardwalk and a Kid's Zone with STEM activities. Popular bands will play the main stage and there's a beer garden. Military & Veterans Memorials
The Kitsap Peninsula has a rich military heritage and that's reflected in dozens of memorials dedicated to honoring our veterans and remembering their sacrifices. You could easily spend a day or two touring the historic sites. Examples include the Kitsap County Veterans Memorial at Silverdale Waterfront Park, a flag pavilion and plaque honoring Kitsap Medal of Honor recipient John Druse "Bud" Hawk at Lent Landing in Bremerton, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Bremerton's historic Ivy Green CemeteryClick here for a complete list and driving directions.

Master Gardener Plant Sale
It's a Mother's Day weekend tradition! Master Gardeners will have thousands of plants at great prices from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  May 7  at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds Sheep Barn. This is not your average plant sale. Choose from unusual varieties, plus you can ask the experts for advice.  Learn more.
Tibetan Sand Mandala 
The monks of Gaden Shartse will create an intricate sand mandala at Bainbridge Island Museum of Art May 2-7. Watch the monks create the mandala and then sweep up the sand and pour it into the sea in a ritual meant to carry blessings to the world. Come see this manifestation of healing energy.  Learn more.
Wings Cook-Off
Amateur and professional chefs will face off at the Port Orchard Waterfront Park May 28 for the title of "Seagull" wing king (or queen). After the judging, the wings are for sale. It's all part of the fun at the 28th annual Seagull Calling Festival. The calling contest is at 1 p.m. and there's also a 5K and Kids Dash.  Learn more.
