NATIONAL PARK Rx CELEBRATION DAY Sunday April 24, neighbors gathered at the Banner Green Space to celebrate Park Rx day.  Some took the Rx for the 1.75 miles and some took the Rx for the .4 miles to Edison Plaza
HISTORIC
IMAGES
Neighbors from Jefferson Park, Samos, Catalina Vista, enjoyed the historic photos of the former sites along Lester. Banner's beginning of Green Space hosted the event.

CHALK IT UP!
Kids love open space. They hiked with parents to Edison Plaza then spread love, rainbows and sunshines all over.

IT IS POSSIBLE!
Farhad Moghini, director of the Regional Transportation Authority and Karen Uhlich spoke in favor of the proposal for a NPS Park along Grant Road.
BUT IS IT PROBABLE?  You do the math. The proposal for the park will go to the state May 6, where two  will be chosen to go forward to the national level.  At the national level, fifteen will be funded. The City is submitting the grant request for $750,000 with matches from the City and Banner Health.  The RTA is partnering.

The Grant Road Coalition Central Segments, comprised of neighbors from Jefferson Park, Samos, Catalina Vista, and Campbell Grant wrote the vision proposal (Grant Road Heritage Landscape Corridor) in March.  In April, neighbors met with city council members and finally with the RTA.  So what was possible, is very possible, because of this great partnership!  We may just see the Tucson Heritage Park and Health Trail, where doctors can prescribe a walk/hike from the hospital, on the Jefferson Park walk/bike loop to the National Park on Grant.
