Burke County Center
May is National Egg Month

Avoiding eggs for your cholesterol? Studies show that it's time to reconsider! If you are concerned about your blood cholesterol levels, you should consider limiting saturated fats and eliminating trans fats. The egg is a great source of so many valuable nutrients making them great for your bones, teeth, skin, and eyes. Eggs are also a great source of protein, making for an excellent, filling addition to your breakfast. Although once thought to increase risk of heart disease, it is now evident that eggs contain about 50% of your daily recommendation of vitamin B12 which actually prevents heart disease. With 195 mg of cholesterol, only 1.5 grams of saturated fat, no trans fat, and only 70 calories, the whole egg is an excellent part of a balanced diet.
