Mr. Philbrick manages to remove a few layers of the varnish that history has applied to Washington's reputation as a general and, more significantly, provides a convincing foundation for Arnold's infamous betrayal. The author of
In the Heart of the Sea
also focuses upon the importance of the waterways that served as pathways to the bloody conflicts that ultimately gave birth to a new nation.

Kaleidoscopic and utterly unique, The Mirror Thief defies any attempt at brief synopsis. To begin to describe this thrilling literary novel one must start with times and places: Vegas in the 2000s, LA in the '50s, and then Venice circa 1592. There are hit men, con men, thieves, spies, murderers, poets, gamblers and glass makers. Each of the main characters from each time period is pursuing something--knowledge, magic--or someone. And all at some point are being pursued. Martin Seay's rich and ambitious first novel brims with danger and atmosphere and will undoubtedly be one of the literary events of 2016.

Tuesday Nights in 1980
by
Molly Prentiss
An intoxicating and transcendent debut novel that follows a critic, an artist, and a desirous, determined young woman as they find their way and ultimately collide amid the ever-evolving New York City art scene of the 1980s.

A splendid, tightly plotted novel about relationships within family that might make you rethink nature vs. nurture. Fraught with perils of the most everyday kind, it is also packed with sweetness and truth. Revelations take the characters (and the reader) by surprise as the significance of the various threads becomes apparent. The story does not end with the last sentence and we are allowed to imagine the very satisfying conclusion. Reviewed by Karen Frank

A groundbreaking biography that places an obsessive, unrequited love at the heart of the writer's life story, transforming her from the tragic figure we have previously known into a smoldering Jane Eyre.

Greetings,
Happy Spring! Despite the lame winter, it is nice to have the world blooming again.
We are looking forward to welcoming eight great authors for
Booktopia 2016.
It will be a fun two days and we still have a couple of spots open if you are interested...
On another front, I am happy to announce that I will be joining the board of directors of the
American Booksellers Association
this month. The ABA is a great trade association that supports independent booksellers across the nation. It is also very involved in defending first amendment rights, in supporting the ever evolving writing/publishing community and improving literacy and children's bookselling. I look forward to joining the board and working on these issues. Your support allows me to do this, so thank you!
All the best,
Chris Morrow

Jessica Posner and Kennedy Odede's story is many things: a tender love story, a tale of how true leaders are made, and an account of the successful melding of the best in two cultures. Few have fought as tenaciously and ingeniously against poverty and hopelessness as these two young people. Their story vividly illustrates the power of young, hopeful people to have an impact on the world, and stands as a testament to the transformations made possible by true love.
