2016-2017 Recommended Budget

In April, the Executive Director sent his recommended budget to members of the Board of Delegates and the managers of TJCOG's member governments. He met with the officers of TJCOG to receive their input on the FY 2017 Recommended Budget. It is recommended that the Executive Committee review and provide input on the FY 2017 Recommended Budget and recommend its adoption by the Board of Delegates at its May meeting. Budget highlights that are a departure from prior years include 3% merit pay increase, increase in transit subsidy, and addition of new staff positions.

ACTION:
The Executive Committee approved the motion to present the FY recommended budget to the full board on May 25 and to grant ED Lee Worsley authority to fill three open positions because funding is currently available to do so.
Board Development

The Board identified that it would like to have more opportunities for "board enrichment and professional development."  It is recommended that the Executive Committee discuss opportunities for the Board of Delegates to engage in more enrichment and professional development activities.

Examples of such activities are:
  • Overview of TJCOG programs and initiatives
  • Seminar or workshop about how TJCOG operates
  • Platform for elected officials to learn from each other, ask questions, share best practices, etc.

ACTION:
Agreed that board development activities are essential to foster more collaboration and will share ideas with the Board to create opportunities for enrichment, learning, and team building.
