Marking Rutgers' 250th anniversary, President Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States, delivered the commencement address on May 15. G reeting more than 40,000 family and guests and 12,000 graduates, he challenged them to  work globally to solve problems and not build walls "...to be a cit izen, full time." StoryWorks: Terra Incognita,  a dark comedy about a New Jersey family which finds itself dealing with environmental cleanup in its backyard, makes its debut at the George Street Playhouse, June 3-4. Free.

 The New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra performs on June 4, featuring contemporary music and a premier work by composer Junsil Lee at Christ Church. Complimentary wine and cheese reception follows performance.
 
Mason Gross School of the Arts Extension Division  presents Orchestra Day, an intergenerational "all ages/all stages" performance event created for New Jersey instrumentalists ranging from beginners to professional, June 5, at the Nicholas Music Center. 
 
The State Theatre presents five-time Grammy Award winner singer/songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter in concert on June 15 .

Summer Solstice Wine and Jazz takes place in the Rutgers Gardens with the New Brunswick Jazz Project. Bring a picnic dinner on June 21 and enjoy an evening of music and nature.

The Eagleton Institute of Politics andSummer Session of New Brunswick
hosts "The Morning After: Is it over Yet? Election 2016" on June 8, at 9:30 a.m. at the Eagleton Institute. Limited seating and RSVP required.     

The Kilmer Library presents the  Elusiveness of Progress: Voting Rights in America  on display now through Aug 31. This exhibition traces the legacy of the Voting Rights Act and details its effectiveness from inception to the present.

Art After Hours: First Tuesdays at the Zimmerli Art Museum features a free, curator-led tour of  Infinite Opportunities in Color
by Helen Hyde and Bertha Lum on June 7.  
 
The Rutgers Film Co-op/New Jersey Media Arts Center presents the New Jersey International Film Festival Summer 2016. The festival will feature 21 film screenings June 4 through June 18.

The New Jersey Soap Box Derby 
and classic car show will be held June 5 on Johnson Drive.
 
Zimmerli Art Museum offers Summer Art Camp,  June 27-29, with sessions in Abstraction, Art Meets Science, Creative Collage, Fun with Clay, Mask Making, Printmaking, Upcycled Sculpture, and Urban Art.

Kids and parents don't miss the final weeks to visit Donkey-donkey, Petunia, and Other Pals: Drawings by Roger Duvoisin, at the Zimmerli Art Museum, which closes on June 26.
 
Registration is open for Scarlet KIDS Summer Camp for children in grades 1-8 on Rutgers' George H. Cook Campus, offering theme weeks, field trips, arts, science, and fitness classes.

Join Vincent Simeone, author of New York & New Jersey Getting Started Garden Guide for a workshop on "Choosing the Best Plants for Your Home Landscape" at the Rutgers Gardens on June 4.

Visit the Robert A. Schommer Astronomical Observatory to view the night sky through a 20-inch optical telescope (weather permitting). Public viewing dates this month are June 9, 16, and 23.

Once a month the Rutgers Geology Museum offers free guided tours to prearranged groups on the weekends. All groups of 10 or more are welcome to request a tour. This month's tour date is June 18.

The 6th Annual A Walk To Believe 5K Run and Fun Walk to benefit A Walk to Believe and Team LeGrand of the Reeve Foundation will take place at High Point Solutions Stadium on June 5.

New Brunswick Ciclovia returns on June 25. Enjoy car free streets for biking, strolling, running. Any form of non-motorized recreation is welcome!
