BLOUNT COUNTY LIBRARY TO HOST TWO FREE LUNCH AND LEARN WORKSHIPS
The Blount Partnership and the Blount County Library are sponsoring two social media and marketing seminars in the upcoming weeks. Both classes are free and take place at the Blount County Library, 508 North Cusick Street, Maryville, TN 37804.

The first class, entitled Pin and Tweet Your Business to Success, is set for Thursday, January 29 from noon-3 p.m. SlamDot's Daniel Monday will show how Pinterest, one of the fastest growing social networks, can convey your business's visual story and offer tips for getting started. He will then show how to begin with Twitter and start building a base of followers.

The second workshop which focuses on The Marketing Fan framework is set for Thursday, February 12 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Bruce Hayes, a certified Growth Wheel Educator and Senior Business Specialist from the Tennessee Small Business Development Center, shows a list of six broad categories of marketing that can be used when selecting a marketing mix. Often it makes sense to take advantage of multiple media in a marketing plan instead of just one channel. The broad categories are ads, prints, online marketing, direct marketing, publications, and promotions, each of which contains a number of concrete examples of marketing channels.

A key point of this framework is that there are many different marketing methods to choose from, and the best approach is to decide on one or more methods that will clarify the purpose of the marketing. Do you want to attract new customers, retain existing customers, or strengthen your brand? Once you have clarified the objective, you can better deal with the broad range of marketing opportunities and use them in the best way.

To register for the classes, call the Blount Partnership at 865.983.2241.

PROMOTE YOUR BUSINESS ... PARTICIPATE IN "OPERATION THANK YOU"
