Community Law In Action (CLIA) as an Inspiring Voice in Baltimore. Nayona, a sophomore in CLIA's Law and Leadership Academy at
Mergenthaler Vocational-Technical High School interviewed Randi and helped to create a video for the award luncheon. Click

Art with a Heart Students Blossom at FlowerMart
Not one but TWO Art with a Heart students at
City Springs Elementary/Middle School, received first place in the
Hilda Mae Snoops Art Contest, an annual art competition. The 6th and 8th graders jointly created their masterpiece with pastel and paint. As the winners, the students received a ribbon, $100 prize to split, and a contribution $100 for the school. Thank you to Art with a Heart teachers, Leigh Caputo and Lara Clayborne, for their guidance and encouragement!

Cecil Self Portraits
Second and fifth graders in Art with a Heart classes at Cecil Elementary School created these life-like, colored pencil self-portraits. The resemblance is incredible, right?

Showing Off at Paul's Place
With the school year coming to an end, students in Art with a Heart classes at Paul's Place proudly displayed their favorite artwork in the end of the year showcase. From Chinese New Year dragons to Howard Finster inspired self-portraits, students were eager to share what they made and learned through art!

Hands on with Monarch Academy
Students in Art with a Heart classes at Monarch Academy enjoyed getting messy while learning to sculpt with clay. After a lesson in scoring and slipping techniques, students were excited to share their artistic creations.

Leaders Learn about the Bay
Students in Art with a Heart's Art of Leadership Program braved the rainy, cold mid-May weather to explore the Chesapeake Bay with the
Chesapeake Bay Foundation. Students learned about the ecosystem of the Bay, the ongoing environmental issues and efforts being made to find solutions. Students enjoyed the experience of dred
ging for oysters, handling a blue crab and exploring the Inner Harbor from a unique point of view.

Spring Job Program
On May 13th, youth from
Youth Empowered Society
(YES) celebrated the conclusion of the spring Job Program. During a celebratory lunch, participants shared with guests the lessons they learned and the goals they reached. One student shared that the program gave him a chance to better himself, while another expressed that the program helped him come out of his shell and made him realize that he liked working with others. Art with a Heart has been cultivating a job pipeline for students who complete the Job Program. Stay tuned for updates on their job placements and their work experiences.

Association of Baltimore Area Grantmakers' Luncheon
Art with a Heart was honored to create spring-themed centerpieces for the
Association of Baltimore Area Grantmakers' (ABAG) Annual Meeting. Over 100 students, interns and volunteers helped with the impressive task of completing 78 hand-beaded butterflies! A BIG thank you to ABAG for the wonderful opportunity and to all those who helped with this project!
