211 Edmonton has updated the Seniors Resource List and has posted it on their website. This one page reference sheet provides contact information for seniors centres, government services, and service providers offering transportation, health and safety, and housing services. 

The website also includes other resource lists such as mental health, newcomers to Canada, and family violence and abuse.

Mill Woods Seniors Association

The Mill Woods Seniors Association is seeking a dedicated, mature cook/chef for their cafeteria. The position is 30-35 hours per week, Monday- Friday. Wage to be determined on experience. This position would be great for a semi-retired person. 

Job duties include: Prepare and cook breakfasts and lunches and occasional buffet dinners for special events in the evenings; maintain and purchase inventory of food supplies and equipment; keep kitchen area clean and sanitized; plan menus; supervise kitchen volunteers; plus other duties related to kitchen.

Requirements: 1-2 years of related food and kitchen management experience; food handing certificate required, and supplementary coursework in culinary arts would be an asset.

We all experience aging differently and at our own rate, which may evoke a range of emotions including excitement, happiness, depression, anxiety, and stress. Although these are normal emotions, when might depression, anxiety and stress become problematic? 

Since we cannot stop getting older, what steps might we take to be healthier? What are the best ways we can ward off the negative effects of aging to protect our physical and mental health? Come and learn about mindful aging and discuss what factors may protect or hinder mindful aging in your life. Presenter: Laurie Young, Prevention and Health Promotion, Alberta Health Services
