CITY COUNCIL'S MESSAGE

During the City Council meeting on Saturday, May 21, which was a well attended gathering held in conjunction with the City's annual Community Day, Ordinance 1591 was introduced, had first reading and received a split vote from Council. This ordinance was written to amend the Revised General Ordinance related to residential zoning districts. It permits a .05 increase in Floor Area Ratio (FAR) to .85 for new residential construction if four parking spaces are provided per dwelling unit. The recently enacted .8 remains if the permittee elects not to provide the fourth parking space.

MASTER PLAN RE-EXAM

A Draft Is Being Created

The Planning Board has completed their special meetings to review the various categories for the Master Plan Re-Examination. Completion of the draft re-examination report by Maser Consulting is expected by the end of May. Following review of this document by the Planning Board subcommittee, the draft re-examination will be provided to the full Planning Board for review and comment.

A public hearing on the Master Plan Re-Examination is anticipated to be held in July. Once the hearing date has been firmly established, it will be advertised in advance and the City will issue an E-Alert notification regarding the public hearing.

Following the public hearing, the Planning Board will consider any additional modification to the Master Plan Re-Examination, with the expectation that it will be formally adopted at an August or September meeting, and then sent to City Council for their consideration and action.
