ADA Coordinator
The Americans with Disabilities Act requires state and local entities with over 50 employees to designate an ADA Coordinator to oversee and coordinate ADA compliance. Smaller entities are encouraged to appoint an ADA coordinator, as they have the same compliance obligations as larger entities.

Training requirements:
- Complete a pre-requisite ADA Basics course.
- Complete 40 training credits approved for the Certification Program.
- Demonstrate mastery of content through an on-line examination.
The ADA Coordinator Training Certification Program is offered through the University of Missouri School of Health Professions Disability Studies and Policy Center and the Great Plains ADA Center.

Episode 1: Employment & Reasonable Accommodations
This episode will address the legal and practical issues surrounding reasonable accommodations in the employment arena (Title I) under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA).
Topics to be discussed include: definition of disability, the legal rights and responsibilities of employees and employers, and the process of requesting reasonable accommodations.

What can you do during October to create a
more welcoming and inclusive workplace?
You could:
- Ask Disability Network to train supervisors and staff about disability language and etiquette.
- Train supervisors, team leaders, and managers about your organization's Reasonable Accommodation policies and procedures.
- Post information from JAN - the Job Accommodation Network - in the staff breakroom.
- Review your emergency evacuation procedures to ensure that employees with a variety of disabilities are included.
- Include disability related information in your employee newsletter.
