Thoughts From Pastor Glen
One of the joys of being a pastor is to watch how a congregation grows. Spirit of Hope has seen up and downs like any congregation, but like a teenager (Spirit of Hope is 15 years old) we can be surprised by new developments. In June .... we are going to do something NEW. Our last new member class brought us some entertainers by the name of Ermal & Paula Williams. Like many entertainers, they have worked many places and have now found Arizona as their home. They asked, "How could we serve?" After some brainstorming we came up with the idea of using their musical talent before the Sunday 8:45 am service, encouraging people to come early at 8:15 am to "warm-up" their worship spirit. Ermal is an accomplished actor doing "stories" on John Wayne and Gary Cooper. Paula has a beautiful voice (think Patsy Cline) and is an award winning yodeler. The idea is to have "FUN" before we enter into worship of our Lord and Savior. We are calling this "Spirit Warm-Up". It will start on June 12th @ 8:15 am. Come early. Bring friends. Enjoy this change of pace.

White Lake |
|
This coming week marks the 64th
wedding anniversary for Frank and Pat Gursky. Frank was born November 14
th,
1926 in Chicago. Pat was born on September 1st, 1930 in White Lake, Wisconsin. The name "White" was given to the lake by the Native Americans, who hunted and fished in that area many years ago. Pat graduated in Milltown, Wisconsin.
They first met in Pat's family home. Frank had met friends and Pat's family members at the local bowling alley in Milltown, and the outing spilled over to Pat's family home. When she came home from her job at the local bank, Frank was there with a sparkle in his eye which lit up when Pat walked into the room. Not long after the two were dating and enjoying their time together. They complimented each other as Pat was soft spoken, modest and humble and Frank was jovial and upbeat.
|
|
On May 30, 1952, the couple married in Milltown, then worked together with Pat's parents running the local A&W Drive-in for nearly six years. During the winter they would close up the drive-in and head to Florida to enjoy the warmer climate. Frank also worked as a successful sales representative for the local newspaper for over twenty years. Frank continued to enjoy his bowling and for both of them, family and friends remained very important.
They were blessed with two sons who are now both retired. Allan winters here and is also a Spirit of Hope member. He was a successful financial planner for 25 years in Washington state. Edward, who lives in Las Vegas, is a safety electrician at the University Medical Center in charge of weekly validating of emergency systems of five generators.

All of us at Spirit of Hope are sending Frank and Pat the very best, and blessed wishes, on their sixty-fourth wedding anniversary !
1 Corinthians 13:13 "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."
This certainly is true for this lovely couple Frank and Pat Gursky.
