June is going to be jumpin` in Llano, Texas in 2016... The Llano Open Pro Rodeo gets underway on June 1 with Llano County Team Roping, slack on Thursday, and then full rodeo action Friday and Saturday nights!
The Rodeo Parade is going to be spectacular this year with guests from Hollywood and the PRCA participating. The "Man in The Can" movie, shot in Llano, is going to DVD and will celebrate with a release party on Saturday at Main Street Affairs from 11am-2pm. Noessa Higa, the movie's producer, and Ronald Burton, the movie's star, will be on hand to autograph the DVDs. There are also giveaways from Pendleton Whiskey, Wrangler Jeans, and YETI Coolers.
Across the street, on the courthouse lawn, the Boy Scouts will be hosting their annual BBQ lunch. Down the road at Robinson Park, the Llano Volunteer Fire Department will be holding their annual BBQ Cook-off sanctioned by LoneStar BBQ Society. If that isn't enough to fill your morning and afternoon, at the Llano County Community Center the Llano County Rodeo Royalty fashion show will be taking place, followed by horsemanship at the John L Kuykendall Arena. After the rodeo, Mike Ryan will be performing at Oestreich's Rose for an after rodeo dance.
Coming up on June
17, 18, 19, 24 & 25, the Llano Community Theatre will hold performances of "Dixie Swim Club" a story about Five Southern women, whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team, set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. We hope you can catch a performance of this great show!
The Llano Chamber works hard to keep our members informed and connected. Be sure to do your part by joining us in our events and planned activities. Our monthly mixer, along with a ribbon cutting, will be held at A Country State of Mind on June 21, located at 1751 County Road 103.
Lastly but nowhere near least, Vacation Bible Schools will be held all over town, so make plans to send your kiddos to one or all, and if you can volunteer. I know they would be thankful.
OUR RIVER IS ALWAYS OPEN and this year we have Llano Kayak and Canoe offering rentals Wednesday through Sunday and on Monday holidays. Enjoy the summer and have fun in Llano, Texas!
