ART EXHIBITION @ THE LIBRARY

"Finished Painting Girl with Tree"
Patricia Frankel - "Fine Art Painter with Very Eclectic Style"
April 30 - June 11, 2016
Patricia Frankel, Pound Ridge resident for over 40 years, was educated at Pratt Institute and the School of Visual Arts.  Her career began as a graphic designer and creative manager for both General Foods and her own design firm located in Stamford, CT.  Currently, she teaches drawing and painting to students ages 8 to 18 at two of Westchester's well-known organizations, Rad Art Gallery and School in Hartsdale and the JCC of Mid-Westchester in Scarsdale.  Her students have won local and national awards, and their art portfolios have resulted in their being accepted by art schools including Pratt, FIT, Parsons, Yale, and others.

"My artwork combines my graphic design and illustration backgrounds, and very often I work from my own photography, combining it with my imagination.  I enjoy painting subjects that tell a story and therefore, my art leans more towards the realistic versus the abstract."

  PRAS AUTHOR OF THE MONTH

Audrey Insoft

Audrey Insoft grew up in Mabel, Minnesota but moved east in her early 20's.  She's lived in Hartford, Connecticut; Providence, Rhode Island; and New York City prior to moving to Pound Ridge in 1999.

She spent 25 years working in the insurance industry in the areas of marketing, training and communications.  She received an associate's degree in journalism, a bachelor's degree in business administration, and a master's degree in adult education and instructional design.
Throughout her professional career, writing was a passion and she spent her free time taking creative writing classes.

The inspiration for her first book, Divine Fate, comes from her relationship with Paul and Sandy Pinkerton, who facilitated the adoption of her Vietnamese son, Alexander.

Lancaster Online reviewed Divine Fate: "The author's training as a journalist shows in the flowing narrative about their (the Pinkerton's) lives before and after they meet, and in the multiple sources she cites in piecing it together. As a beneficiary of their (the Pinkerton's) services, Insoft portrays them with the utmost respect and gratitude."

VVA Books in Brief said, "To me, the description of Paul Pinkerton's tour of duty in Vietnam is the most powerful part of the book.  The author's interviews did a great job of getting the details.  Insoft's writing is excellent and clear . . . "

A judge from Writer's Digest 21st Annual Self-Published Book Awards wrote: "You have an incredible story to tell, one that should appeal to a wide range of readers of memoir and nonfiction.  You write about some difficult subjects with a great deal of sensitivity and honesty.  Great job!"

Readers have said the following about Divine Fate:

"Insoft writes a touching story without sentimentality - one worth reading."

" Divine Fate is a great book club read."

"Insoft's novel provides both a compelling story and an interesting perspective for viewing some of the history of U.S. adoptions in Vietnam."

Insoft is currently exploring new story ideas.

Divine Fate can be found at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and the author's website: www.audreyminsoft.com

An interview is also on YouTube at "Let's Talk Writing" Episode 86.
