THE DISCIPLES DISPATCH
THE NEWS AND HAPPENINGS OF THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH (DOC) IN MONTANA
Ruth
Make us partners in our living,
our compassion to increase,
messengers of faith thus giving
hope and confidence and peace.
--Jane Parker Huber

Our Assembly Planning Team was really smart.  In this time of political craziness, violence, and discouragement, they knew the Regional Church needed a little hope and confidence and peace.  So we spent our time together in Billings listening to good news-- lots and lots of good news!  We heard stories of courage from our past to motivate us for the challenges of the present.  We encountered people in our own churches who talked with passion about how they transform lives.  We listened to testimonies from those who spend their time making a difference in the world.  It was downright optimistic!

Thanks to Don Beal who served as the chair, to Dana Keener who hosted us as the pastor of Central Christian Church, and to the team members: Pat Bischoff, Kathy Hilberg, John Keener, and Lori Novak.  Thanks also to David Welch and his kitchen crew who put beautiful, nutritious meals on the table for us, and to Eli Keener and Braeden Roesler, the masters of all things technological.

The Assembly was an abundant feast that fed us and sustained us and sent us out with a "can-do" attitude to live out the priorities those gathered established for the Region.
  • Encourage Missional Engagement, making resources available, building capacity for mission, and encouraging each congregation to be involved in its own community
  • Build Relationships through communication, inclusion, leadership training, and clergy support with an emphasis on younger adults
  • Create Learning Communities through camps and other events at Cane Ridge West Conference and Retreat Center
  • Undergird Congregations, providing a safety net for churches in times of transition and trouble and providing timely and competent conflict management and guidance when needed
Faithfully,

Ruth Fletcher
Regional MInister

Grandparents Put the "G" In GMPK Camp!
Our churches may not have many children or youth to send to summer camp at Cane Ridge West Conference & Retreat Center, but we have Grandparents!  GMPK Camp is a weekend event for GRANDPARENTS, Moms, Pops, and Kids who have completed Kindergarten or Grades 1-2.

Mary Larsen, experienced camp director and educator from Helena First Christian Church, is directing this camp again July 8-10, 2016.  GMPK Campers of all ages always bring back glowing reports of Mary's leadership that involves children and adults in intergenerational learning and fun activities.

GMPK is a bargain weekend away at $180 maximum cost per family--Central Christian Church offers half the registration in camp scholarships to help out those attending from our congregation.

Please encourage your Grandparents to take their grandkids to camp and give their adult children a break.  Some parents may want to accompany the grandparents so they won't miss out on the fun!
