If you're looking for snow, hop on a plane at the award-winning Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport. At a recent luncheon at The Wichita Marriott, the Associated General Contractors of Kansas, Inc. awarded Wichita's new airport the Judges Choice award. It also received an award of excellence in the new construction category for projects over $10 million. The award is based on significant construction features, innovative construction techniques, safety and outstanding examples of workmanship.
Wichita's Key Construction Inc. was the general contractor. HNTB Architecture in Kansas City designed the facility in association with Wichita-based GLMV Architecture.
Every year, the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce awards five recipients of "outstanding people and organizations". This year's event will present the "Uncommon Citizen Award" to Marilyn Pauley of Commerce Bank. Marilyn is a wonderful asset to our city, and she is dedicated to Wichita's success. Other winners include McConnell Air Force Base, High Touch Technologies, Starkey Inc., Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., Kansas Leadership Center, and the Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport.
My sincere congratulations to all of these recipients, and my thanks to them for helping make our city a better place.
