2016 Leap Year
What are your plans for the extra day we get this year? That's right 2016 has 366 days instead of 365. Why is that?
It takes the Earth 365.242189 days to travel one time around the Sun. With our modern Gregorian calendar, we have to add a leap day every four years or we would lose six hours off our calendar each year. After 100 years our calendar would be off by almost 24 days. So to keep in line with the seasons we have a Leap Year every 4 years.
It gets even more complicated if you want to truly understand the history behind the calendars, Chinese leap month and so forth. If you want to know all the details check out this web page and beef up on your calendar and leap year knowledge.
Since we only get one extra day every four years, then break out of your same old pattern and do something different on February 29th! That doesn't mean you need to go out and get yourself in trouble, just do a pattern interrupt and enjoy an extra 24 hours.
