Recycling : Dispose of your e-waste correctly

Did you know electronic equipment (anything with a cord or battery) and fluoro lights can no longer be placed in general waste bins?

These items have been banned from landfill since September 2013, incorrect disposal of these items may attract fines of $300 - $3000.

For disposal you must take it to an e-waste recycler or book a hard rubbish collection (check council information first about accepted items).

Visit the  City of Marion website for more information about recycling of electronic equipment.

The three-cornered Jack is back

Caltrop (commonly known as three-cornered jack) is a nasty summer growing weed with sharp spiny fruits. Ouch!

The City of Marion is keeping on top of Caltrop on council land but we need your help. It is a declared species and must be controlled.

If you see Caltrop on council land please call our Customer Service Centre and report it.

If you have caltrop on your private property the best cure is prevention by removing the plants and never letting it set seed.

Grants for safer, greener, more active travel

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure in partnership with the Motor Accident Commission are offering
grants to support organisations to deliver local projects that achieve safer, greener and more active travel choices.

These projects can look different for different groups. Projects can focus on improving road safety, getting people cycling, walking or catching public transport; replacing car journeys with technology, people doing things locally or using their car smarter.

The Community Road Safety Grants program is interested in new ideas and innovative, targeted approaches to reducing local road trauma and getting more people being active through walking or cycling for transport.

Visit the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure website for more information
