Dear Friends,

Good news!  SHA has re-initiated the project to widen Rt.197 between Rt. 50 and Rt. 450.  Planning and public input will be over the next two years and construction is slated to begin in 2018.

I wanted to let you know about an informational meeting about SHA's planned design.  The meeting is on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at the Kenhill Center from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.  A brief presentation will begin at 6:45 but you may come and view the materials and offer your input anytime during the evening.

The press release is below and a newsletter is attached which offers greater detail.  Please feel free to share with anyone who might want to participate in the meeting, and of course, feel free to call me at 301-858-3101 or email me with further questions at [email protected]

MDOT/SHA
has reinitiated a project to widen and improve MD 197 in Bowie, Prince George's County. The project will increase roadway capacity; enhance safety for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists; and improve access to residences, schools, and parklands. The project extends from south of Kenhill Drive to north of the MD 197/ MD 450 intersection. Project planning for this project was completed in 2009.

For additional information, you are invited to attend a Public Informational Meeting on Wednesday, September 16, 2015. (See back of flier for meeting details.) The informational meeting will reacquaint the public with the project and provide attendees an opportunity to inform SHA of their project-related concerns. Maps and other displays will depict the proposed improvements, and SHA representatives will be available to discuss project-related issues and answer questions. A brief presentation will begin at 6:45 PM. You may arrive at any time during meeting hours and walk through the display area at your own pace.
