The OMSSA/AMCTO offering of the Executive Diploma in Municipal Management (EDMM) is designed specifically for CMSM and DSSB senior staff, to build and enhance key management skills and competencies. Focusing on the most relevant and emerging issues in the CMSM and DSSB context, this program will provide an in depth understanding and practical applications of management needs and knowledge within the CMSM and DSSAB human service context.

The program curriculum for the EDMM focuses on the three foundational tenets of municipal management:
  • Managing Organizational Performance
  • Managing People
  • Managing Money
The EDMM program curricula has been refined based on AMCTO's Definition of Practice for Municipal Management, outlining the core competency requirements of successful local government managers.  

The EDMM distills management needs into 19 curricular offerings delivered in the form of 2 day workshops which map onto the core skills and knowledge competencies required by successful local government and DSSAB human services managers. Each session is led by seasoned facilitators with high levels of subject matter expertise.

  • Staff with supervisory/management roles and responsibilities in a municipal or DSSAB organization
  • Mid-level CMSM and DSSAB Managers
  • Managers entering the municipal sector or DSSAB context from the Private Sector
  • High potential CMSM and DSSAB Professionals being prepared for Management roles
  • Private sector Professionals who work or consult with the municipal and DSSAB sector
Assessment

Following completion of the 19 workshops, the participant's final step prior to graduation will be to submit a research report based on a municipally-relevant human services management topic.
