I t's Your Venice -- Get Involved!
Your Board of Officers Takes Action
On Tuesday, your Neighborhood Council Board of Officers met to take a number of actions on behalf of the Venice Community.

With Vice-President Marc Saltzberg presiding, the Board heard that local crime is down, the City Council officially declared a homelessness emergency in Los Angeles, outreach has begun for Neighborhood Council elections and the Great Venice Toy Drive is collecting donations until December 17 (see article below).

The Board also took action on Land Use and Planning Committee (LUPC) recommendations, including a remodel of the Israel Levin Jewish Federal Community Center on Ocean Front Walk, a change of use for an Abbot Kinney salon, renewal and expansion of Mercedes Grille liquor license and new construction at 334 Sunset and 693-695 Santa Clara Avenues.

In other news, a SoCalGas Company representative described its Advanced Meter initiative to deploy "smart" meters along with an opt-out program for stakeholders desiring to keep existing gas meters.

Public Safety Committee Helps Residents Stay Safe
The Public Safety Committee of the VNC has created pressure-sensitive "window clings" for residents to display on the inside of glass doors and windows. The clings are designed to warn away thieves and trespassers looking for homes to burglarize and to serve as a reminder to residents to remember to lock their doors and windows when they leave home. The clings are free to any Venice resident at our VNC Farmer's Market table or any official Neighborhood Watch Block Captains may request them by emailing [email protected].
