Lesley Gunderson
I grew up in Chicago, going to Church of our Saviour on Fullerton and was confirmed Episcopal in 8th grade at St. James Cathedral. My husband, Steve, was raised Catholic, so we began coming to St. Josaphat for Mass in 2012 and we were thrilled when our oldest daughter was accepted into Pre-K4 at St. Josaphat School last year. We now have two daughters at SJS and love the St. Josaphat community; we feel blessed to have found a church and school that help us reinforce our values when we send them off to school each day. After becoming involved with the church and school last year, I decided that I wanted to receive the sacraments of Initiation and become fully initiated into the Catholic faith. For me it was about making a deeper commitment to God and being able to fully participate in all aspects of Catholic Mass.

The RCIA process was a wonderful journey; Mary Jane and Deacon Dave spent time helping me understand Catholic beliefs and practices. I have been an active Christian my whole life, but I learned a lot through this experience that helped me gain a greater appreciation for the Catholic faith. My favorite part of the experience was taking my first Catholic communion surrounded by family and friends. My RCIA sponsor, Ashley Medio, has been a close friend since we were 3 years old. I look forward to my children growing up in the St. Josaphat community where they are forming friendships for life.

Donor Recognition Wall
We have created a temporary Donors' Wall in the Lady Chapel which we use for daily mass during the week, as well as the gathering space for the Children's Liturgy of the Word on the Sundays at the 10 am mass.  The focal point is a canvas-mounted photo of the larger Donor Recognition tile-mosaic, which is in the new school building.  Please stop by and check out this overdue recognition wall.
